A Streetcar Named Desire (1951)
The director directs his Tramway with a master's hand, assisted by excellent talented actors, including Vivien Leigh, troublingly truthful in the role of Blanche DuBois.
This great actress constantly explores and pushes the boundaries of the game. Able to transform herself completely from one character to another, like a chameleon, Leigh is here more extraordinary than ever! She flirts with neurosis and madness, with dry and nervous gestures, without ever falling into the trap of psychodrama.
In the role of his rival, Stanley Kowalski, Marlon Brando is more real than life. His swollen testosterone performance (but tinged with sensitivity) compares to that which he created the role on Broadway, in 1947, before resuming cinema.
What is fascinating is that Blanche DuBois is on a different note, but Stella is still Blanche's little sister. She was raised in the same place in the same family. Here, they appear born on two different planets!
My rating speak more itself
Like almost every movie in its genre, it is incoherent. Furthermore, I believe that there were not may efforts put in this movie, you can easily believe what I,m saying by a simple look to the costume or the visual effects, but it is even more appearing when you watch the movie and notice all those cliché that they made. I can't really blame the actors for that since they have done their best in the circumstances, but that movie really seem to me low budget a cash collector.
I'm kind with this one
I like this movie, but the more I think about it, the more I believe that the screenplay is going nowhere and that the story bases are hard to understand, but I gave it a good rating, because the cinematography is amazing, and because the performances looked perfectly fine at my eyes.
If Beale Street Could Talk (2018)
I believe this film is very underrated, all the performances are excellent and very touching, but I must give my special mention to KiKi Layne, I believe that her performance could have deserved a nomination as best actress at the Oscars. In addition, this film is a very realistic portrait of love which unfortunately is not often as rosy as the majority of films can claim. I must also congratulate the Director of Photography for his excellent mastery of the camera and more particularly when he manages to give contrasts to symbolic elements of the film like the red umbrella despite the dim light present in some scenes.
Green Book (2018)
Deserved his Oscars
Every acting performances is great in this movie, the relation between the two mains character who learn more about each other is complex and fun to watch, i recommend it.
It was good but no more
As everybody said the acting was good, but again the major problem is that the screenplay is lacking of objectivity, it tried to make it simple while the story was definitely not all Black and White.
The Favourite (2018)
I feel like this movie is too much of a parody, and that it goes to far from what could have been possible, I can take the example of the duck races, the lobster races etc. A lot of those scene were useless in my opinion. But, for me, the major lack is the acting performance which were like roller coaster, sometimes they were amazing, but often you could feel that nobody re-read the screenplay, before filming. Finally, the ending was just bad, what is the point us a bunch of rabbit?
Roman Holiday (1953)
This is movie is a great fairy tale, and it is probably the best to have been adapted to cinema. The scenario of Dalton Trumbo is simply amazing filled of very funny dialogues and William Wyler also made this movie gripping until the end. Like usual the performance of Audrey Hepburn is excellent, and you can hardly make less than 8 to this movie even if you search for mistakes. Seriously, it is worth a watch for a ton of reasons, and you won't regret it.
National Treasure (2004)
Bad acting performances
Nicolas Cage doesn't make the effort to make is character believable and reliable·.
Nim's Island (2008)
I can understand the love that some people gave to this movie because it is quite enjoyable if you haven't watch any movies of the genre, but it is really trash can quality if you are aware of the cliche of the genre.
Not seen enough
This movie is enjoyable, even if the story is lacking of complexity, you will like it if you are looking for a short movie to watch in family, but not if you want a really mind-blowing or epic movie such as Lawrence of Arabia.
This movie is quite interesting even if you can easily recognize that the studio wanted to make it a response to The Matrix, this is where that movie fail, it doesn't achieve to be as classic or as entertaining as its predecessor, which is kind of disappointing. It is still worth a watch because you can see the efforts that all the crews put in it even if like me you found that the scenario was lacking of substance and drama.
The Irishman (2019)
One of the best movie of the year
This year wasn't one of the best for the cinema, but this one where Scorsese make a come back is the most realistic movie of Scorsese. Goodfellas and Casino were fabulous but more glamour, I think that the 3.5 hour runtime is totally justified because the movie follow several years of Mafia. Including, the rise and the fall of Jimmy Hoffa. Absolutely worth to watch.
The Interview (1998)
The most underrated movie of the 1990s
The film is starring me Hugo Weaving and Tony Martin, we can remember Hugo Weaving, because he has notably played Agent Smith in The Matrix and Elrond in the trilogy of Peter Jackson's ring. In summary, this film can be considered as Australia's response to the success of the American film The Usual Suspects. I am quite pleasantly surprised by the acting and the atmosphere that the director was able to give to his film, therefore, it is appalling that the film did not enjoy a popularity that would have been well deserved given its complexity and the accuracy of its scenario. Indeed, although the film was a phenomenon in his home country, Australia, He only got six thousand votes on the very popular site in the seventh art, IMDb. To conclude, this very long criticque I would like to mention that it is totally an unmissable film that will certainly acquire notoriety in the coming decades as Blade Runner before him.
Tonight, I went to see the movie Joker about the origins of Batman nemesis, as you may have noticed by reading my other entries in this diary, I had extremely high expectations for this film. With so many expectations, I thought it would be difficult for this work to touch me or surprise me. Yet coming out of the cinema I was completely dazzled, by what seems to me to be the best film of the decade. This film deals well with the psychology of the character, he approaches the character as never before, the end and the revelations that are made to me took my breath away. Finally, I hope that Joaquin Phoenix, the actor who plays the Joker probably achieved the performance of his life even outperforming his own interpretation of Commodus in the Gladiator film. In Todd Phillips' film Joker, he presented a performance that pays tribute to the great names in film. I am confident that his role will be honored at the Oscars and other major awards ceremonies.
The beggining of the story is coping the legend of Cyrus Le Grand wrote by herodote
The Grimm brother copied a part of the Cyrus the grand his legend. Therefore, the story is similar too a part of the book Artamene or the Great
Cyrus by George and Madeleine De Scudery. To illustrate, the evil queen as the same psychologic caractéristiques than Astiage in the legend of Herodote. Additionally, the part where the hunter is faking the dead of Snow White is really copying the Born legend of Cyrus too proof it you can just check on Wikipedia or Read the Book ( Artamene or the Great Cyrus)
Not a war movie a survival movie
I liked a lot this movie because you can see a fell a human without liberty but this man can see his liberty near him. Christopher Nolan made with this movie
a great accomplishment. he did a movie with almost not script but if the characters almost don't speak. They speak with their physical expression. i thiNk that is very ambitious to do a movie of a Britain story that American never heard about and make it a BlockBuster. Rare are the movie that show a story of a defeat but defeat are as important as glory.
ONE OF THE BEST FILM OF HIS YEAR.
The Shawshank Redemption (1994)
In my opinion the best movie ever made.
This movie is intelligent, based on an excellent book played by legendary actor as Morgan Freeman. Directed by a true artist ( Frank Darabont), I hope that this movie will be remembered for many and many years, Probably the best Picture ever made in the all history. You need to see at least one time in your life.
It'is the proof only one false accusation can destroy a life
I saw this movie at my tv it's one of my favorite movie because actually some people believe some fake news without any investigation and i think this movie was really ambitious to choose this subject. I really liked mads mikkelsen is acting performance it was deserve a nomination at oscar for best actor and for best foreign picture
