I hate being sucked in. More than anything. I avoid anything that's popular just because I can't stand the herd mentality. It took me three years before I touched a Harry Potter book. I would not have watched this show willingly. My one uplifting, redeeming quality is that I'm a good friend. Always. Even at the sacrifice of my Wednesday evenings. I originally started watching VM because I was taping it for a friend who didn't get UPN in her new town. I was just going to tape it, but I thought it would be nice if I cut the commercials for her. Now, half a season later...I can't stop watching it. It's horrible. I actually rented the entire first season and watched it in one twenty-four hour sitting. If you start watching this show, be warned you WILL get hooked, no matter how hard you try to resist. It is a great mystery. Each episode has its own mystery that is self inclusive, but the overall season mystery is what keeps you speeding through traffic to get home in time on Wednesday nights. Kudos to the creators, they did a great job!
The Frog Prince (1988)Very cute, but low budget

This movie is one of quite a few that were made into what are referred to as the Canon Movie Tales. They are all low budget and filmed primarily in Isreal, so I understand. If you want an idea of what to expect, it appears that someone took some of the little children's musicals that community theaters do and got some actors that people would want to see and then, with a very small budget, produced the best film they could. They are cute, sweet, and great for kids to watch. They are the precious little things that have a moral in the end. If you are an Aileen Quinn fan, this is the only movie other than Annie that she did, and it is adorable. She sings much better in this movie and her coloring (ie hair and makeup) are much more natural. This movie is very hard to find, but it is worth the effort of searching for if this is the kind of movie that you like. Also stars a very young (not to mention completely evil) Helen Hunt.
Held for Ransom (2000)Not THAT bad, honestly

This movie is certainly not a box office wonder, however it is relatively entertaining. As someone who has seen their fair share of movies that should never under any circumstances been viewed by the public, I can say that this movie is not one of them. The plot is fairly well contrived, with a delightful twist at the end that I was not expecting. The actors do a fair job, not worthy of an Oscar, but tolerable. The suspense is believable, I in fact found myself yelling at Bruce to run. It can suck you in if you go into it, not expecting to see the greatest thriller of all times, but simply...well I guess the best way to describe it is Hallmark Hall of Fame quality, only its a thriller, not a drama, and there is no cheesy love lesson at the end.
Edges of the Lord (2001)Are you nuts!!?? Put it back!
30 July 2005Warning: Spoilers
This is the MOST disturbing film I have seen in a long time. If you like this movie go rent Bastard out of Carolina. My God!! A child who believes he is Christ...meh? Good?? No!! Hangs himself on a tree?? No!! Good Movie?? NO!! Put it back where you found it and run away!! Why, oh why, would that dear boy whom everyone had such high hope for after the Sixth Sense be in something this truly traumatizing? At times I wished that I too had a whip so that I too could whip myself for renting this dreadful, horrifying, disturbing movie!! I was banned from the movie selecting for months after this one!! I repeat myself, do not get this movie!! Put it back on the self, that one in front of you, and leave. Go rent a happy movie. I recommend Max Magician and the Legand of the Rings. At least you will get a decent laugh.
The Keeper of Time (2004 Video)Worse than Max magician...

If you are the type of person who enjoys renting/buying really really really bad movies; than this is so for you. If your local Walmart doesn't have a dump bin that is suitable for you tastes in the extremely bad, go and find this movie at a local video store that carries EVERYTHING including porn... For some bizarre reason they have this. If you have seen the movie Max Magician and the Legand of the Rings, and like most who saw it, appreciate just how terrible it is, you will be disappointed in this film. Unlike such classic movie making horrors such as Max, this poor film does not even contain that type of entertainment. I swear it isn't worth it!!
Max Magician and the Legend of the Rings (2002 Video)Max is given a spell book that lets him into the blue bell forest where he helps to rescue the wood elves from an evil king trying to take over.

Wow! I must say, for five dollars at Wal Mart I have never been so effectively entertained. This is one of the most horrible movies I have ever seen. Oh my. Aside from the blatant commentary on protecting the environment and on anti-weaponry, it really is just bad. The acting is positively terrible, the lines suffering throughout from delayed delivery. The script is really sad, most of it SO cheesy. "What happened to the champion who believed in himself?" My goodness. The costuming, well, let's just say this was a bit of a low budget number. The fight scenes were unfortunate. Now, for a real treat, if you watch the "special features" you'll get a real kick in the butt. They are absolutely serious, they think this movie is wonderful!! They had props (deadly war weapons) that were made out of POOL FLOATIES and DUCT TAPE!! I laughed so hard I almost peed my pants. Although, if this is the level of quality that passes as acceptable in the movie industry, perhaps I should become a professional actor and seek out roles in low budget films. I could really go places... This movie is highly entertaining, although not in the good movie sense. It's great however if you want to laugh at the rather sad attempt. Well worth the money spent. Much better than many other investments from the same five dollar bin.
