Man's justification for abusing women
28 March 2020
Warning: Spoilers
Once again we get to witness religious zealots abusing women in the name of religion. Watching this reinforces how men in society continue this practice but more importantly how some women are equally complicit. The story is well told with a very realistic perspective of how this young woman courageously fought to find her own way in a world that was not prescribed!

Really lackluster
27 March 2020
I wanted to love this show because I was such a fan of Project Runway and I love Tim Gunn. Heidi Klum was always "okay" but she did bring glamour to the show. This is so bad! The designers are really not very good and bring nothing unique to the fashion design world. It's lacks the excitement of Project Runway and while I still love Tim Gunn, he alone can't save the show. Heidi Klum is terrible in this show. Her acting is soooo bad. Don't waste your time!

Unique
18 February 2020
I saw The Young Pope 2 years ago and was really impressed with the story, dialogue and good acting but this series, The New Pope, exceeds the previous version in every way. It's visually beautiful, the acting is fantastic and the story is very intriguing.

The Director, Paolo Sorrentino is incredibly talented and takes you on a lyrical and visual journey that is captivating. It was also great to have exposure to a very talented international cast.

A real miss
15 February 2020
I was interested in seeing this film because I love Julie Louis Dreyfus' acting and Jessie Armstrong's writing. To be fair I'm not a fan of Will Ferrell but I thought with a good leading lady, good writing and a wonderful story..how can you go wrong?? Boy did it go wrong. Boring dialogue, slow and tedious, bad acting (Will Ferrell) and no real story.

It was neither a comedy or a drama. If it was intended to be both it failed on each front. The intended comedic/dramatic lines were dull and pedestrian. Although I'm not giving up on Ms. Dreyfus or Jessie Armstrong's genius, I'd recommend just skipping this one.

Fascinating

OMG! I can't believe all of the negative and toxic comments. This show is a fascinating voyage of an alternative lifestyle/health perspective. It's unique and timely as our Westernized culture has driven us away from a more holistic/community way of life. Anxiety, Depression, Cancer, etc... are all real and rampant in our society and people are looking beyond traditional modern remedies such as pharmaceuticals and therapy to help them.

While I wouldn't try many of the alternative approaches, I found others to have merit. This series doesn't force this way of thinking on the viewer but rather gently introduces us to something different.

Great acting but convoluted story
27 September 2019
I was really excited about this series. How can you go wrong with Ryan Murphy and team but it was a mishmash of plot lines with inconsistent story telling. It was glee, a bit American Horror and other stuff just thrown in. The story had so many subplots that it drowned out the core theme of a young man's obsession with being the President. If not for the great cast, this would be a bomb.

A true masterpiece
1 August 2019
First let me say I'm a big Tarantino fan. This film felt like a culmination of all of his work. It was a true piece of cinema art. I'm a child of the 60s and 70s and I felt like I stepped in a time machine back to 1969. Tarantino captures that era in every scene. The chemistry between Brad Pitt and Leonardo d'caption was incredible. I loved both characters and I wish both actors could win academy awards because both deserve it. If Tarantino doesn't get an Oscar for this film then I pledge to stop watching the Oscars!

Charming film
16 June 2019
What a lovely coming of age movie set in 1959 Australia. I've long been a fan of Australian TV and movies. It's a charming story of a teenage girl who has dreams and gets a part time job an exclusive department store. The movie does a great job of weaving in other characters stories as well.

Amazing Ending
22 May 2019
Warning: Spoilers
I thought the ending was fantastic. I don't understand why people are so upset about it. It was incredibly poetic with a Shakespearean ending. There were so many incredible moments from when Daenerys gave her eerie Hitler speech, Tyrion finding Jaime and Cersai, Jon's talk with Tyrion, Jon killing Daenerys, Drogon melting the iron throne and then carrying her off and the final seasons.

I honestly don't know what kind of ending dissatisfied fans wanted. Hats off to the Producers, Directors, Crew, and actors who pored they're heart, sole and time into this magnificent production. It was earth shattering television and it will be a long time for we will see anything on this scale.

So great

You can really see great acting come out with a good script, dialogue, and story line. Christina Applegate is so good this! You literally never know what's going to happen next in this show. It's a binger!

Phenomenal

Warning: Spoilers
The most amazing high energy unique documentary/concert. I was speechless after it was over. Beyoncé has exceeded Madonna and Gaga in terms of talent, energy and charisma. She's so gifted and dedicated to her craft but this documentary shows her feelings about black and woman power. The marching band, dancers, musicians were astonishing.

Good writing but over the top at times
19 April 2019
Warning: Spoilers
Don't get me wrong this is a good show but I'm not liking season 3 very much. Although Michael Sheen is a good actor his character "Blum", is so over reaching and bad that's it's hard to watch. I'm assuming he is supposed to be a modern day Roy Cohn but it misses the mark in so many ways. Unless the writing, plot line and character development improves I won't watch it. I'm sure the writers are going for a wow factor but it's more of a "what we're they thinking" factor.

Well done horror fantasy
15 April 2019
Warning: Spoilers
I read the books and I thought the the television series was even better than the books. It's a sophisticated well done story of witches, vampires and demons. My only complaint, and I hope the show runners are reading this, is the cheesy pop music that is incorporated in the music. Please stick with the original score and variations on it. The pop music doesn't do this show justice

Bizarre Movie
16 December 2018
Warning: Spoilers
I was really looking forward to seeing this movie for many reasons. I love the actors and the history of Lady Sarah Marlborough and The Duke of Marlborough. I've read extensive historical journals, books and articles about the monumental of achievements of this two very intriguing people. That said, this was by far one of the worst films I've ever seen. Everything about this film was aweful from the camera angles, bizarre and highly imbelished plot line to the ending.

To be fair, I'm not a fan of Yorgos Lanthimos. But I read reviews which indicated this film was different than his other strange films like The Lobster or The Killing of a Sacred Dear. Despite my opinion of his film making style I was anticipating a great film. His twisted and perverted take on Queen Anne and Lady Sarah was hard to watch. Yes there was some truth to the closeness these two women shared but this filmmaker really went overboard with a strong Lesbian and sexually perversed plot line. While the acting was good, the intense sexual and twisted content was ruined this movie. I'm not a prude but it was so central to the theme that it distracted the audience from true historical facts. Don't waste your money on this film!

Disappointed
7 December 2018
There was such hype about this movie and I love both Jennifer Aniston and Dolly Parton but I was so let down. The dialogue was very bland. I expected the story to be predictable but was hoping the actor's lines would inject life into it but sadly it didn't. Frankly the best part of the movie was Dolly Parton's music and little else.

No surprises

If you watch this film with the perspective that's it's just a fun and over the top look at the world of uber rich Asians then you will enjoy it. While I'm not Chinese, I'm very familiar with culture and the expectations placed on children by their parents. Happiness seems less important than continuing s "predefined" legacy. Unfortunately it was so over the top that it was very cheesy in most scenes. And while there were very good actors in this film, their dialogue was aweful. I actually cringed watching these actors deliver their lines and almost felt sorry for them. The biggest disappointment was Constance Wu's performance. I'd have to give her a D-. It was juvenile and boring. I'm sure it was easy delivering bad lines but she made it even worse. I'd recommend she take some acting lessons or select her next job with a better director.

John Le Carre
25 November 2018
I'm baffled by some of the low ratings on this series. It's an outstanding story brought to life with great acting and directing. It's the quintessential spy movie that contains intrigue, fear, and psychological espionage. I was glad to see that the violence was placed strategically through the series rather than the typical gratuitous and monotonous onslaught of "action" movies. I'd highly recommend it if you like a more complex and subtle spy thriller.

Very underrated movie
10 June 2018
Warning: Spoilers
I noticed there were some some bad reviews on this movie but I'm perplexed by this. There were so many beautiful and subtle messages in this movie that perhaps were not detected by the average movie goers. I've noticed over the last 10 years that if a movie has subtlety, character studies, and is epic not in visual effects, it's not understood. This was a beautiful story of a young woman who wrote one of most progressive stories, Frankenstein, of its time and has stood the test of time.

Her character development of the protagonist, the creature itself, was clearly drawn from her own suffering. Much like Interview with a Vampire was inspired by Ann Rice's grief over her daughters death.

It's a beautiful movie and if you are interested in movies that are character driven, please see this movie. It's a refreshing change from the 100s of Marvel Themed movie.
