Felt Like Harry Potter Again
24 May 2020
This one felt more like one of the first Harry Potter films but much darker to me. We have plentiful of classroom scenes going on in between all the action and adventure. There is a surprise twist ending.

Who is the half-blooded prince? What does he have to do with Harry Potter? What is the surprise in the end? You'll have to watch to find out - I don't like giving away details of good movie.

Not A Bad Film
24 May 2020
It isn't all that bad - not my favorite Potter flick but it is still a film worth watching.

Here we have Lord Voldemort gathering all his strength, loyal helpers and making his comeback with the goal of killing Harry Potter. We also have Dolores Umbridge who has taken over the Defense of the Dark Arts class and making it into a very strict, boring and terrible class to take - I have no love for Umbridge.

Fun Teen Drama
21 May 2020
This particular installment of Harry Potter is fun to watch but expect a lot of teenage drama. I like the idea behind it - instead of the 3 main characters (Harry, Ron and Hermione) had some bad blood between them for awhile - made it more realistic. Despite enjoying the tension between the characters I feel this one is missing somethings - one of them being a better story.

The story: Someone has put Harry Potter's name in the Goblet of Fire - not only does he participate in the Triwizard's Tournament but he must find out who and why they did it to him.

Another Cute Film
21 May 2020
Warning: Spoilers
I really liked this one - very mysterious criminal Sirius Black , who was once Voldemort's trusted aide, has escaped from Azkaban Prison and rumor has it he wants to kill Harry Potter. Who is Sirius and why does he want to kill Potter? I won't give it away - you'll just have to watch and find out for yourself.

Extra bonus points in this one for shape-shifting into rats, dog, and werewolves.

Really A Cute Film
20 May 2020
I really don't know what more I can say that other reviewers haven't said already - it's a really cute and fun film!

In this one, Harry finds his life and the life of his friends in danger. He and his wizard buddies must find the Secret Chamber in order to put an end to the chaos and petrifactions going on in the school.

Great family film.

AKA Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone
19 May 2020
I'm finally in a position to re-watch and review the Harry Potter film series - I'm way past over due for reviewing them.

First of all, I don't know of anyone that has not seen at least one Harry Potter flick. Everyone seems to agree that these are great films - I am no exception.

Secondly, the entire series is highly entertaining! If you haven't seen this series then I highly recommend you should. Comical, magical and all around fun to watch.

This first film starts out with a bang as when Hagrid, Dumbledore and Minerva McGonagall show up with baby Harry Potter on the doorstep of Harry's relatives home. The film ends on a good note with the house cup being awarded. In between the beginning and ending is non-stop entertainment.

Great to watch this film again

Artistically Expressive
20 April 2020
One of the most beautifully filmed movies I've seen but the story itself isn't anything special. It's about a hypnotist that murders though those he has under his hypnotic spell.

I think the film is worth about 5.5 to 6 stars but am giving it an 8.5 stars for it's near perfect artistic value.

One of the Best Horror Films of the 2000s
20 April 2020
If you are looking for a good Gothic haunted/ghost story you've found it here - and it's one of the best horror films of the 21st Century. There is not a lot of blood and gore to see here - look elsewhere for that; this film is subtle horror with a couple of jump scares here and there to keep you on the edge of your seat at times.

Well worth watching this beautifully filmed classic.

A Typical Whodunit
20 April 2020
Nothing all that special in my opinion... just another typical whodunit of the 1920s that lasted until the most of the 1940s. If you are looking for a 'ghost/haunted house' film then you will need to look elsewhere. If you want a murder mystery then you may like this film.

Visually Stunning
20 April 2020
One of the most beautifully filmed movies of the 1920s and one of the better horror movies to come from the era. A must watch for film enthusiasts.

I have to echo a few reviewers that this film does not get the recognition that it deserves - well worth watching if you love horror - it's right up there with Hatchback of Notre Dame, The Cabinet of Dr. Caligari, Vampyr and others.

Lovely Work of Art
20 April 2020
This film is a lovely work of art - you not only watch a movie but a disorienting piece of craftsmanship. The film is almost surreal as other reviewers have mentioned and it is very atmospheric.

I was questioning what was really going on at times in the film but viewing the entire movie until the ending then it all made sense.

Great Imagery, Slow Story
20 April 2020
The film is also known as The Phantom Chariot.

Personally I felt the story was a bit slow, it seemed to drag and drag in places. It would have been better as a shorter film in my opinion - leaving out the slower, drawn out scenes.

It is a little reminiscent A Christmas Carol in some ways but not exactly like it.

Strange Take of The Hobbit
14 February 2020
This is the first time The Hobbit was ever on film. It is one of the most bizarre animations I have seen. There is something novel of this one - it's awful, terrible film short yet something charming about it. It is attention grabbing!

You'll find Bilbo is in-love with a princess - marries her in the end. The dwarves are practically non-existent. Very little air time for Gandalf.

As one person said: "It looks as if the film makers was eating some of Radagast's mushrooms." - and it really does!

Sean Bean is Amazing
21 January 2020
The extremely versatile and talented Sean Bean plays Simon/Tracy. Simon is a man with a mundane teaching career by day, by night he is Tracy a drag queen that satisfies men. One day he meets Tony - a man fascinated by Tracy. Tracy and Tony begin to see each other and one night Tracy tells Tony that he/she believes he is married - Tony lies and says his wife died. They continue their relationship and the begin fall in-love. What happens in the end I cannot reveal - but I can say this episode is well worth watching - just have a couple of handkerchiefs handy.

Good - But Not Long Enough
9 January 2020
The film is satisfying for the most part - I just wished there was another hour tagged onto the ending which would show us how he created some of his legendarium.

The film mainly focuses on his friendships and romance with Edith in school - very little of the war was shown. Also showed his relationships with a couple of his teachers.

You will easily see in the film how things connected to his books - hidden references as well obvious ones.

Very good movie if you like biographies, romances and/or Tolkien.

Not What I Was Hoping For
11 December 2019
I have no idea what I was really hoping for out of this film - it's good don't get me wrong but was a bit dull for my tastebuds. I normally enjoy these films of the 60s but this one just didn't do it for me.

Plesant Surprise
11 December 2019
Ailurophobia is the fear of cats - our star, Michael Sarrazin, has got it badly. This is one of the better movies where our feline house cats are made to look fiercely deadly to humans. Give this film a try -- really good.

Pretty Good Horror-Thriller
9 December 2019
Decent horror-thriller from the 1970s. Some of the acting is a bit over the top but I expect it from these older films. Worth watching - recommended

It's Blah!
9 December 2019
I generally love these 1970s TV movies - especially the thrillers and horrors but this one I found lame - not much of a story to keep my interest though I do believe others my like this film - give it a chance!

Snail's pace. Too mellow and drab - really needed some spice mixed in. The lead actress is monotoned though out most of it which turns into a snooze fest quickly. I like the idea behind the film but it's just to dull for me.

Watch for David Soul Only
9 December 2019
David Soul is the only good thing about this film - seriously. I enjoy TV films of the 70s and 80s but this one was not my cup of tea. It took way to long to get to the murderer - the reason we are watching the film.

LAME
9 December 2019
What a very lame film. I normally love the old made for TV movies of the 1970s - most are diamonds in the rough but this one is just terrible. Over acting, not much of a decent story and - just all over dull film.

MEH!
9 December 2019
One good scene about 10 minutes into the film then it's all down hill. Predictable, average and mildly interesting. I guess I was hoping for more since Lynda Carter is the star but it fell greatly after 30 minutes into it.
