In an interview with Ellen DeGeneres on the Ellen Show, Ronson and Mars stated that it had been filmed in many cities where Mars was touring. Parts were also filmed at 20th Century Fox Studio's "New York street" back-lot in Los Angeles. The video has over 2.7 billion views on video sharing website YouTube as of November 2017, making it the fifth most viewed YouTube video of all time.
