Set in a small Orlando-adjacent town in 1992, this dark comedy series stars Kirsten Dunst as Krystal Stubbs, a minimum-wage water park employee who lies, schemes and cons her way up the ranks of Founders American Merchandise (FAM)-the cultish, flag-waving, multibillion-dollar pyramid scheme that drove her family to ruin in the first place. Determined to make a better life for herself, Krystal dives deep into FAM, until her business begins to affect those closest to her.Written by
The second TV show in the last four years in which Kirsten Dunst stars as a women who becomes involved with a sinister multilevel marketing scam / pyramid scheme. In the second season of Fargo, Dunst played a main character who was very eager to participate in a Lifespring seminar. Lifespring was a real organization founded in the mid-1970s as an offshoot of the so-called "human potential" movement that began in the late 1960s. Starting in the late 1970s until Lifespring disbanded in the mid-1990s, dozens of lawsuits levied a wide variety of complaints against Lifespring, ranging from characterizing it as a fraudulent pyramid scheme to holding it responsible for over two dozen participants' deaths. A great start to the series about an early 90's mother determined to thrive despite her late husband's ties to a pyramid scam. Kirsten Dunst and cast are dynamic and the script & setting is so far a winner. In my personal opinion Dunst is a fantastic actress and I'll watch just about anything she's in. Despite being passed over for her phenomenal performance in Fargo here she is again nailing yet another role. I'm hoping this show continues to deliver because I am hooked to see what unfolds next for her character. And yes I will be very suprised if she is not nominated and given her long awaited & well deserved Emmy win. Watch the show. You will not be disappointed.
