Storyline

Neither Dr Fagan or Grimes are looking forward to the latter's wedding to Flossie but it still goes ahead, despite the diversion caused when Philbrick has to escape from the law. Next day Grimes is presumed drowned when his clothes are found on a local beach but with term ending Paul is invited to stay at her palatial house as Peter's tutor and finds himself falling for her. She also offers him employment in her Latin American entertainment company, recruiting showgirls, where he finds that Grimes is alive and acting as the girls' escort. Four days before his marriage to Margot Paul travels to Marseilles on her behalf and learns the hard way the true nature of her enterprise. Written by don @ minifie-1

Decline and Fall: Episode 2
7 April 2017 | by Prismark10See all my reviews

In the second episode we soon move away from the school and in some ways the episode suffered, it lost focus as we spent time with the rich and the infamous.

Grimes is getting married to one of Dr Fagan's daughter Florence and Fagan is not happy about, he realises that Grimes has certain issues of character such as moral turpitude. Fagan pleads with Pennyfeather to marry her daughter instead but Pennyfeather is more interested in the widow Margot Beste-Chetwynde.

Then again Grimes is not too keen to get married as well, at the wedding Philbrick is arrested and soon after Grimes is missing, presumed to have killed himself.

During the school holidays Pennyfeather tutors Margot's son and he enters their upper crust world. A manic German architect, a fat politician and an undercover reporter dressed up as a sheikh. Still he does manage to charm Margot, she in turn does seem to be have something shady going on and Pennyfeather has been sent on an errand to Marseilles. I fear it might not turn out well for him.
