Trivia

Closing credits show some documents from original Jan Lewan's career. Among other, his Polish actors association card (dated 1964), signed by Henryk Szletynski, great Polish stage actor and the society's chairman. The card reveals also that Lewans real name is "Lewandowski". See more »

Goofs

Although the minor detail was caught to use the proper blue & yellow Pennsylvania license plates prior to the year 2000 and then update them to the current form upon Lewan's release from prison, vehicles are shown having front plates. Pennsylvania does not issue front license plates. See more »

A Grammy-nominated con artist gets the Black treatment
30 January 2018 | by bettycjungSee all my reviews

1/29/18. Jack Black seems to have a knack for playing real life creeps, like Bernie Tiede in Bernie, the undertaker who embezzled $3 million from a wealthy widow after killing her. In this movie, Black plays the con artist, Jan Lewan, a Polka entertainer who pulled a Bernie Madoff on his many unsuspecting fans. Lewan sucked millions from people who were entranced by his ebullient personality. Black did a great job with this role.
