Stephen King adaptation Mr. Mercedes renewed for season 2

Mr. Mercedes has been renewed for a second season by the Audience Network.

Based on the trilogy of Stephen King books comprised of titles Mr. Mercedes, Finders Keepers, and End of Watch, season 1 told the story of killer Brady Hartsfield who taunts a retired police detective named Bill Hoges (Brendan Gleeson) via a number of explicit emails and letters.

Mr. Mercedes season 1 has received favourable reviews from critics, including an 85 percent on Rotten Tomatoes, and as such, At&T’s Audience Network has decided to renew the show for a second season to continue the story and adaptation of King’s books.

David E. Kelley will be returning for writing duties, along with Jack Bender coming back to the director’s chair.

Harry Treadaway on the Chilling Parallels Between ‘Mr. Mercedes’ and Reality (Exclusive)
On executive producers Jack Bender and David E. Kelley’s chilling of Stephen King’s Mr. Mercedes, plays the titular serial killer, Brady Hartsfield. Over the course of the first nine episodes, audiences have witnessed just how tormented and demented of a psychopath Hartsfield is as he’s killed innocent people and continuously terrorized Det. Bill Hodges (Brendan Gleeson), who retired after being unable to solve a massacre, when 16 people were killed by a Mercedes.

A fan of King's novel, which is the first of a crime noir trilogy following Det. Hodges, Treadaway tells Et ahead of the season one finale that the reality these fictional characters lived in was so relatable, but portraying Hartsfield proved to be a challenge. To internalize the character’s past tragedies and voyeuristic approach to killing, the actor cleared out his local bookstore of texts on psychopaths and serial killers, getting a few strange looks at the checkout counter.

Stephen King's Mr. Mercedes Series Gets Picked Up For a Second Season!

If you haven't been watching the series adaptation of Stephen King's Mr. Mercedes, you've been missing out on one hell of a great show! This show has got a talented creative team behind it including writer and producer David E. Season 1 of the series followed a demented killer named Brady Hartsfield (Harry Treadaway) "who taunts a retired police detective Bill Hodges (Gleeson) with a series of lurid letters and emails, forcing the ex-cop to undertake a private, and potentially felonious, crusade to bring the killer to justice before he is able to strike again."

I'm happy to report that the series has been picked up for a season and it will be based on the second book of King's Bill Hodges trilogy, which is called Finders Keepers. If everything goes as planned,

Wild Trailer For Halloween Pussy Trap Kill! Kill! is Like Russ Meyer Meets Saw

I've got a crazy trailer for a new horror thriller called Halloween Pussy Trap Kill! Kill!. I don't know if you're familiar with the filmmaker Russ Meyer, from the 60s and 70s, but it totally seems like this is the kind of movie he would have made in the style of Saw. Meyer is behind such films as Faster, Pussycat! Kill! Kill!, Common Law Cabin, Finders Keepers, Lovers Weepers!, Vixen, Beyond the Valley of the Dolls, and more. They are all very grindhouse-style type movies.

Anyway, if you're familiar with his stuff, then Halloween Pussy Trap Kill! Kill! is a film you'll probably enjoy. Here's the synopsis:

On Halloween an all girl rock-n-roll band called “Kill Pussy Kill” ventures out to play their biggest show to date. However, before hitting the road they manage to unwittingly upset a man. Unfortunately, this man turns out to be an evil genius dead set on revenge.

‘Mr. Mercedes’: Stephen King Novel’s Terror Threat Won’t Echo Manchester Concert Attack

‘Mr. Mercedes’: Stephen King Novel’s Terror Threat Won’t Echo Manchester Concert Attack
The Manchester, UK, terror attack this past May eerily mirrored a similar event in Stephen King’s novel “Mr. Mercedes.” Producers behind Audience Network’s upcoming adaptation of the novel confirmed that they changed that central event for the series, in a way that won’t be revealed here.

At Tuesday’s Television Critics Association press tour panel for the series, director Jack Bender said that the show’s choice to change that framework was decided early on and was a “better way to make it a potentially more catastrophic event.”

On May 22, a young male suicide bomber walked into the foyer of the Ariana Grande concert in Manchester Arena and detonated a nail bomb that he had strapped to himself, killing 22 people (one child as young as 8 years old) and injuring 250. In the novel “Mr. Mercedes,” the killer Brady Hartsfield, who is being pursued by detective Bill Hodges, also

Stephen King’s Mr. Mercedes Adaptation Set To Premiere This August

Yet another Stephen King novel is set to get the TV treatment. While folks may be more dead set on seeing some of Stephen King’s older work — like It, The Dark Tower, Firestarter, or The Mist — on the big and small screen, we can’t forget that the dude’s been writing pretty great novels in recent years as well. Most recently, King’s put out a trilogy of hard-boiled detective novels. The stories started with Mr. Mercedes, continued with Finder Keepers, and concluded with End of Watch.

We’ve known for some time that the first book would be adapted for the small screen, but after being announced, back-burnered, and then brought back to the fold, it became easy to lose track over what the actual status of the project was. Now, Audience Network has announced that the 10-episode limited series has a premiere date of Wednesday, August

  • DailyDead
Fans of Showtime’s Weeds series are in for a treat, because Mary-Louise Parker has joined the cast of Mr. Mercedes, the DirecTV series adaptation of Stephen King’s 2014 novel of the same name.

According to THR, Parker (R.I.P.D., Fried Green Tomatoes) will portray the recurring role of Janey Patterson, the younger sibling of the deceased Olivia Trelawney. In addition to Parker, Gleeson, and Treadaway, the Mr. Mercedes cast also features Holland Taylor, Kelly Lynch, and Jharrel Jerome.

Adapted for the screen by David E. Kelley and directed by Jack Bender, the (planned ten-episode) Mr. Mercedes series is slated to premiere this autumn on DirecTV, DirecTV Now, and the At&T U-verse.

‘Gleason’: How Filmmaker Clay Tweel Found an Unexpected Story of Hope
Editor’s Note: When New Orleans Saint defensive star Steve Gleason learned he had Als, his wife Michel was pregnant. Instinctively, he picked up a camera and started talking to his unborn son, and so began the documentation of a man’s determination to tackle his disease head-on.

Gleason,” now an Oscar candidate for Best Documentary, quickly grew beyond being one man’s video diary. Under the guidance of director Clay Tweel, Gleason’s story was painted on a far broader canvas, one following a traditional hero’s journey that is able to capture the sadness, triumph, and joy of a family facing impossible odds. IndieWire recently asked Tweel about how he crafted the Gleasons’ inspiring story from 1300 hours of painfully intimate footage and how the project evolved as the NFL star’s body weakened.

The Challenge

There were two challenges that immediately presented themselves on this project. First of all,

How ‘Gleason’ Director Clay Tweel Turned Family Video Into a Global Story: Awards Spotlight
The documentary “Gleason” has taken on resonance well beyond what former New Orleans Saints player Steve Gleason originally intended: shooting footage of his life, post-als diagnosis, for the benefit of his young son.

There’s the community that saw Gleason as the symbol of a resilient city, both in his career and in his fight against the disease. There’s the love story between Gleason and his wife Michel Varisco, whose sacrifice and support resound throughout the film. The documentary also serves its original purposes as a lasting testament from father to son with a message of decency, strength, and creativity.

One of the stewards of this honest portrait is director Clay Tweel, a documentary filmmaker whose previous work includes last year’s “Finders Keepers.” Tasked with assembling and fine-tuning more than 1,000 hours of footage, Tweel helped evolve Gleason’s

Oscars 2017 Documentary Shortlist Predictions: Anne Thompson Weighs In With Top Picks
Many are called, few are chosen: The number of high-quality, awards-worthy documentaries seems to grow every year, but there’s still only 15 slots on the Oscar documentary shortlist. That will be announced December 5; the final five will be revealed on nominations morning, January 24. This year, 145 features were submitted.

This is the white-knuckle portion of the final campaign stretch, as documentary filmmakers and distributors hope their movies make it onto documentary branch voters’ viewing piles before they file their final grades. Those with the advantage are high-profile established hits and festival award-winners with the right combination of engaging accessibility, artful filmmaking, and gravitas.

So what’s looking like a strong bet? It’s a diverse list in more ways than one. Here are my picks for the Top 15, which are not listed in order of likelihood.

Everything You Need to Know About Marvel's Infinity Stones Ahead of the Next 'Avengers'

Quick Marvel pop quiz! Off the top of your head, can you place each of the Infinity Stones within the Cinematic Universe right now? Perhaps we should back this up and start with the basics: Can you even explain what the Infinity Stones are?

Here's how the Collector (Benicio del Toro, in all his white-eyebrowed glory) summarized them in Guardians of the Galaxy: "Before creation itself, there were six singularities. Then the universe exploded into existence and the remnants of these systems were forged into concentrated ingots."

So, that's…vague, but all you need to know is there are six total and they have been popping up as MacGuffins in the McU since before the Avengers first assembled. When Thanos (Josh Brolin) threw on that gold glove in the mid-credits sequence of Age of Ultron and growled, "Fine, I'll do it myself," he was setting off a string of events that will culminate in Avengers: Infinity
