Trivia

When Lester (Martin Freeman) goes to the chemist to treat his wounded hand, he exits the shop to avoid Molly's (Allison Tolman) questioning while the clerk calls out to him "sir, your unguent!" This is very certainly a reference to the original movie, Fargo (1996), when Gaear Grimsrud claims he needs "unguent" after Jean Lundegaard bit his hand. See more »

Goofs

Stavros Milos (Oliver Platt) calls himself "La mercado rey" but the correct translation of "The market king" would be "El rey del mercado" in Spanish. See more »

Quotes

Postal Worker: This is highly irregular.
Lorne Malvo: No.
Lorne Malvo: Highly irregular is the time I found a human foot in a toaster oven. This is just odd.

The Knot Gets Tighter
4 October 2015 | by HitchcocSee all my reviews

Lester is a wreck. Because everyone thinks he is harmless, he manages, for the time being, to be free from accusation. However, Molly, who lost her partner and friend, isn't so sure. She thinks something stinks. Her idiot police chief keeps interrupting her when she tries to ask questions. He has decided that the murders were committed by "drifters." Meanwhile, Lorne is creeping around. Everything with him is a non sequitur. What exactly is he up to? Then, there are two strange men who come into town. One does all the talking; the other signs. Lester has a gunshot to his hand and it is beginning to become infected. As he tries to get something at the drug store, he is again confronted by Molly. He walks away from her, but that makes him even more suspicious. Watch for two fun scenes. One is the idiot son of a big time grocer who has an agenda. The other is the closing scene on the lake. This episode is full of exposition. We'll have to wait to see where it takes us.
