Legacies Ep on Hope's Latest Sacrifice and Vardemus' Jaw-Dropping Reveal — Plus, Find Out Who's Visiting Freya
Thursday’s Legacies revealed that someone at the Salvatore School is not who they appear to be — which is saying a lot, considering a good portion of the student body is made up of literal werewolves.

While Lizzie and Hope battled their way through an alternate reality based on the hits of the 1980s (killing a minotaur in the process!), their fellow classmates navigated a different type of battlefield at the Salvatore School’s ’80s decade dance. Most notably, Josie and Landon almost had sex for the first time, though Josie pumped the brakes when she discovered a song Landon

Rick Ludwin, Former Head of NBC Late-Night, Dies at 71
Rick Ludwin, a former NBC executive and its head of late-night, has died. He was 71.

The native of Cleveland, Ohio died after “a brief illness,” an NBC spokeswoman told TheWrap. Ludwin was born on May 27, 1948.

Ludwin is perhaps best known for backing “Seinfeld,” a sitcom that at the time was not a particularly popular choice for NBC’s airwaves. After a shaky start, “Seinfeld” would go on to become one of television’s most popular and most successful comedies of all time.

'Hope' ('Hap'): Film Review | Tiff 2019

'Hope' ('Hap'): Film Review | Tiff 2019
The relationships in Maria Sodahl's Hope are drawn with an observational style that's rigorously, disarmingly honest — that goes for romantic unions, friendships, parenting, interactions within the broader dynamic of an extended family, even the anxious exchanges between patient and doctor. The maturity of the writer-director's gaze and the highly personal nature of material drawn from her own difficult experience bring an affecting gravitas to that most over-trafficked of subgenres, the cancer movie. Factor in two layered performances of penetrating emotional acuity from Andrea Braein Hovig and Stellan Skarsgard and you have a melancholy but highly satisfying adult ...

Maria Sodahl Makes a Comeback With Real-Life Drama ‘Hope’ at Toronto
After making her feature debut with the well-received film “Limbo” in 2010, Norwegian filmmaker Maria Sodahl is making a comeback with “Hope,” a drama based on her experiences after being diagnosed with brain cancer years ago.

Set to world premiere at Toronto in the discovery section and repped by TrustNordisk, the personal movie is a two-hander starring Andrea Braein Hovig (“All the Beauty”) as Anja, a strong forty-something woman who is an accomplished professional and runs the household of her extended family, including the children she had with Tomas (Stellan Skarsgard), with whom she has lived for almost two decades. When she gets a brain cancer diagnosis the day before Christmas, their life breaks down, exposing neglected love.

“I had the urge to tell my story, and at the same time my aim was to make a personal but not a private film. It’s about what happens when someone faces the threat of death.
