"We do a lot of jokes on our show that due to having a diverse writing staff, some of them don't sound right coming from me, a straight white man," Meyers explained. "We decided that we should still tell you some of those jokes, which brings us to a segment we call 'Jokes Seth Can't Tell.'"

Martin Sacks, Victoria Garrett set to explore grief and resilience in ‘An Ordinary Day’

Leanne Tonkes, Martin Sacks and Victoria Garrett.

Martin Sacks enjoyed working with director Victoria Garrett in her debut feature Don’t Tell so much that he was keen to collaborate with her again.

The actor had been mulling the idea of a film about a father and son relationship which is tested by an unforeseen tragedy, so he pitched the concept to Garrett early last year.

She immediately sparked to the idea and is now developing the project with Sacks, screenwriter John Ridley and producer Leanne Tonkes.

Sacks will play the lead, the father of two teenage sons who live in a small country town. He’s an ordinary man on an ordinary day until he finds his life turned upside down by an indiscriminate tragedy.

Susie Porter, Nathaniel Dean and Daniela Farinacci will play supporting roles.

For the key role of the 15-year-old son the producers are keen to find a fresh face.

Review: Fast & Furious Presents: Hobbs & Shaw

  • Comicmix
I have never seen a film in the Fast & Furious franchise so approached the latest release, Fast & Furious Presents: Hobbs & Shaw, with fresh eyes. I’ve certainly managed to absorb via pop culture osmosis the gist of the series’ evolution and the saturated play of the trailer all spring, certainly got me curious. So, kudos to the trailer’s editor.

While the premise behind the series does little for me, I enjoy a good buddy film and my understanding is that stars Dwayne Johnson and Jason Stratham had such different approaches to acting that I was curious to see how well they played together.

This is what we used to call a popcorn film: just enough plot to tie the action sequences together, appealing cast, and lots of things going boom. On those terms, the film works wonderfully and it is rather entertaining.

Hattie Shaw (Vanessa Kirby) is

Veronica Mars: If You're Confused About Weevil, You're Not Alone

  • Popsugar
Warning: spoilers ahead for Veronica Mars!

The tension between Weevil and the titular heroine of Veronica Mars is palpable in the series' fourth season, to say the very least. Easily one of the most nuanced characters on the soapy noir dramedy, Eli "Weevil" Navarro started the series as a minor antagonist only to become one of Veronica's strongest allies. Still, V's been hostile toward him lately, especially as he returns to his life of crime amidst the Neptune bombings. Yet the emotional fracture between these two has gone on for way longer than the events of season four Hulu reboot. To truly understand Weevil's role in the revival, we need to understand his arc between the 2014 movie and the canonical book Mr. Kiss and Tell.

Weevil started off as a leader of Neptune's Pch gang, eventually retiring from this life after finding work in season three and starting a family in the movie.

Veronica Mars Taps Dawnn Lewis as Neptune's New Chief of Police

TVLine has learned exclusively that Dawnn Lewis — who recurred on iZombie last season as Mama Leone — has joined Hulu’s eight-episode revival in the pivotal recurring role of Marcia Langdon, the new police chief (since Neptune has incorporated).

The Most Disappointing TV Shows of 2017

The Most Disappointing TV Shows of 2017
In the age of peak TV, there’s a lot of bad television out there. But rather than take the time to highlight what everyone should already be forgetting, IndieWire is examining the heartbreaking misses of 2017; the shows that felt like they had something special — either in concept, talent, or early episodes — but failed to fulfill that promise.

For the shows that weren’t cancelled, hope rings eternal. TV is a medium that allows for development, improvement, and the virtual erasure of bad first impressions. The shows below might be a long way from getting good, but their break bad hurt enough that even for the most disappointing, we still hope for the best.

And if you like any shows on the list, then good luck and godspeed. You found something there that we only wish we could have seen. Maybe next year.

The Punisher Reviews: Critics Are Split On Marvel/Netflix’s Latest Standalone Series

Not unlike Justice League before it, The Punisher has split critics right down the middle.

Ahead of its arrival this Friday, November 17th, Marvel and Netflix released six episodes prior to broadcast, and the industry’s pool of TV critics have now weighed in with their individual verdicts.

Indeed, it’s difficult to gauge a consensus from what is essentially a mixed bag. For instance, some have hailed The Punisher as a “riveting” and “deeply compelling” take on Frank Castle, while others believe Marvel and Netflix’s latest standalone series fails to justify its 13-hour running time. And though that may be true, one thing that everyone seems to be in agreement on is Jon Bernthal’s remarkable performance as the titular anti-hero, who submerges himself in the criminal underbelly of Hell’s Kitchen in order to avenge his family

And so, in anticipation of release, we’ve collected a

Jared Padalecki on New Daughter Odette Elliott: ‘I’m Really Excited’ to ‘Hopefully Have a Daddy’s Girl’
Jared Padalecki is “really excited” to have a baby girl — daughter Odette Elliott, who was born in March — after having two boys.

“It’s a really cool experience, and I’m really excited for her to grow and hopefully have a Daddy’s girl,” the Supernatural star, 34, tells People.

But he also admits having a daughter makes him feel “really nervous and vulnerable” in a way he hadn’t felt with his sons Shepherd, 3, and Thomas Colton, 5.

“With boys, you’re like, ‘Go skin your knees and go break your arms like I did.’ But with a girl, you’re like,

Grey's Anatomy Season 13 Episode 19 Review: What's Inside

It has been a while since we were given a "dance it out" scene and we were long overdue.

There is no time like the present given everything that had transpired with Diane.

We got a healthy dose of humor on Grey's Anatomy Season 13 Episode 19 too, which was a pleasant surprise, given the fact that we were coming off of the difficulty on Grey's Anatomy Season 13 Episode 18.

The hour mostly revolved around Maggie's first day back at the job, but fortunately, it wasn't the only thing we were given this hour.

You know what I love about Grey's Anatomy? I love when it can acknowledge just how ridiculous it is and when it doesn't take itself too seriously. It can laugh at itself. It gives us, as viewers, license to laugh at just how absurd it can be, too.

It has been 13 seasons of some of everything imaginable thrown at us.

Grey's Anatomy Season 13 Episode 18 Review: Be Still, My Soul

Admit it, you went through a handful of tissues, didn't you?

And by "handful," I mean potentially an entire box.

It has been a while since Grey's Anatomy has given us one of those episodes that leaves you curled up in the fetal position bawling your eyes out. There have been a few sniffles here and there, but not a sob-fest.

Grey's Anatomy Season 13 Episode 18 was exactly that, a sob-fest. It also was one of the best installments of the season thus far.

Hats off to Ellen Pompeo for making her directorial debut. She did an incredible job, and one can only hope that she continues down this path and chooses to direct more down the road.

But I would be remiss to go on discussing this amazing hour without commenting on just how breathtaking Kelly McCreary's performance was throughout this hour.

Someone, anyone, submit this for an Emmy reel.
