This Is Us Casts Sophia Bush: Is She Playing Kevin's Love Interest?

Sophia Bush is returning to NBC!

Deadline is reporting that the former Chicago P.D. actress has landed a recurring role on the second half of This Is Us Season 4.

As is the norm with this ratings juggernaut, producers are keeping tight-lipped about who she is playing.

However, series creator, Dan Fogelman has teased that she will be part of Kevin's (Justin Hartley) storyline.

If you watch This Is Us online, you know Kevin has mostly been unlucky in love, but thanks to the introduction of a future storyline, we know he has a child in the future.

Whether Bush's character will be revealed as the baby mama, we don't know, but it sure is fun to speculate.

Another new addition to the hit family drama's cast is Pamela Adlon (Better Things), who will recur as part of “Randall’s very intense storyline,” Fogelman dished.

Sophia Bush is headed back to NBC, via a role on This Is Us: The former Chicago P.D. star will recur during the second half of the family drama’s fourth season, our sister site Deadline reports.

Series creator Dan Fogelman revealed that Bush’s character will be involved in Kevin’s storyline, but would not confirm or deny whether she is the mother of his child in the future timeline, while speaking with reporters following the show’s panel at the Television Critics Association winter press tour.

Comedy Central and Refinery29 Team for Two All-Female Digital Series (Exclusive)

Comedy Central and Refinery29 have signed a digital content partnership to produce two comedy series featuring an all-female lineup of comedians, Variety has learned exclusively.

Slated to premiere spring 2020, the series will be co-branded and distributed on both Comedy Central and Refinery29’s digital platforms. While neither series is being eyed for a linear run at present, a release at some point on the ViacomCBS-owned cable channel isn’t out of the question given that Comedy Central owns the rights, according to sources.

The first series, titled “Cc x R29: Taking the Stage,” is a short-form stand-up series featuring a curation of showcase clips from a lineup of comedians. The second, “Cc x R29: Speak Up,” will be a short-form storytelling series in which the comedians will share stories about speaking up and being heard.

Louie Anderson is switching from Baskets to cat beds.

The Emmy winner is set to play a talking cat in the Fox comedy series Tigsley, our sister site Variety is reporting. The multi-camera comedy — which has received a script commitment with a penalty attached — is described as “an adult comedy about a family dealing with life, love, the pursuit of happiness and their obnoxious insult-hurling talking cat.” Anderson will appear onscreen in a cat costume, a la Wilfred, rather than voicing a CGI or puppet character.

‘Big Deal’ Comedy Starring Vanessa Bayer From Michael Showalter Gets Showtime Pilot Order

Showtime has picked up to pilot Big Deal, a half-hour single-camera comedy co-created by and starring Emmy-nominated Saturday Night Live alumna Vanessa Bayer. The Big Sick helmer Michael Showalter will direct the pilot for the project, from Annapurna TV, which had been in development at Showtime for a year.

Emmy-winning former Inside Amy Schumer head writer Jessi Klein serves as showrunner on Big Deal, which Bayer co-created with former SNL writer Jeremy Beiler.

Big Deal is a grounded comedy in which a woman (Bayer) overcomes childhood leukemia to achieve her lifelong dream of landing a job as a QVC host.

Bayer’s character is inspired by the comedy actress’ own personal story as a survivor of childhood leukemia, which she was diagnosed with in her freshman year of high school.

Vanessa Bayer Sets Comedy Pilot at Showtime, Michael Showalter to Direct
Vanessa Bayer has some news which is kind of a big deal.

Showtime has ordered a half-hour comedy pilot from the “Saturday Night Live” alum, who will star and executive produce.

The project in question is called “Big Deal,” and is described as a grounded comedy in which Bayer plays a character, inspired by her own past, who overcame childhood leukemia to achieve her lifelong dream of landing a job as a QVC host.

Bayer co-created the show with former “SNL” writer Jeremy Beiler, who will also executive produce. “Inside Amy Schumer” head writer Jessi Klein will serve as showrunner and executive produce along with “The Big Sick” director Michael Showalter who will helm the pilot.

The project was announced by Showtime presidents of entertainment Gary Levine and Jana Winograde.

Exclusive: Producer Seth Cohen (Bless the Harts) has signed a first-look deal with Full Frontal and Russian Doll producer Jax Media, a pact that marks the first Ep deal for the company’s TV group. Cohen will be working out of Jax Media’s L.A. offices.

Over the past year, Cohen as an independent producer has sold projects to Netflix, FX, Amazon, Adult Swim, Miramax and eone. ‘Loafy’ And ‘Blark And Son’ Get Digital Series Orders From Comedy Central

Comedy Central today announced a digital series order for Bobby Moynihan’s Loafy and a new season order for Blark and Son, from Stoopid Buddy Stoodios. The network ordered eight new short-form, digital episodes of each series, along with a linear pilot script for both Loafy and Blark and Son.

The new digital episodes will roll out across all Comedy Central digital and social platforms in 2020.

Loafy is an animated comedy about a weed-dealing manatee who runs a drug empire from his water tank at the Center Park Zoo. Bobby Moynihan voices the main character, and he also serves as creator, writer, and executive producer of the series. Loafy is executive produced by Luke Kelly-Clyne’s Big Breakfast, a recent acquisition of Propagate Content.

Sophia Bush Lands Recurring Role on Love, Simon Sequel at Disney+

Sophia Bush has nailed down her TV return.

The beloved One Tree Hill and Chicago Pd actress has joined the cast of the Love, Simon sequel series at Disney+, according to Deadline.

The series will be set in the same universe as the 2018 movie and will center on Victor (Michael Cimino), a new student at Creekwood High School.

The teenager is on his own journey of self-discovery as he faces adjusting to a new city, as well as challenges at home. He is also struggling to come to terms with his sexual orientation.

To make things easier, he reaches out to Simon (!) to get assistance with navigating the trials and tribulations of high school.

Prior to the premiere of Watchmen, HBO and creator Damon Lindelof could have given viewers 100 guesses as to how the show based on Alan Moore and Dave Gibbons’ iconic superhero novel would begin. And precisely 0 people would have guessed “with a 1920s era silent film detailing the exploits of Bass Reeves: The Black Marshal of Oklahoma.”

But as you now know (if you honored the spoiler alert at the beginning of this article and actually watched Watchmen episode 1) that is precisely how the show begins. Yes, even the familiar yellow Watchmen text logo appears as part of the grainy silent film before the plot carries on to show about a minute and a half of a Bass Reeves adventure.

‘Bless the Harts’ Renewed for Season 2 by Fox
Bless the Harts” has been renewed for Season 2 at Fox, the network said on Friday.

Created by Emily Spivey, the animated comedy centered on a Southern family “that is always broke, and forever struggling to make ends meet” features a voice cast that includes Kristen Wiig, Maya Rudolph, Jillian Bell, Ike Barinholtz and Kumail Nanjiani.

Here’s the official description for the show, which joined “The Simpsons,” “Bob’s Burgers” and “Family Guy” in Fox’s Sunday night “Animation Domination” lineup last month.

Sugar Lyn Beard is joining the cast of HBO Max’s “UNpregnant” opposite Haley Lu Richardson and Barbie Ferreira, TheWrap has learned exclusively.

“UNpregnant” will be one of the first features made by WarnerMedia’s upcoming streaming service and will be a coming-of-age project under Greg Berlanti’s deal with the streamer. Beard is playing Kate, a woman in her 30s “with a very sweet, wholesome and earnest vibe,” according to the streamer.

Berlanti is producing alongside partner Sarah Schechter. Erik Feig, who just launched PictureStart, is also producing with Lucy Kitada and Jessica Switch.

The upcoming Netflix comedy series “Space Force” has added seven new cast members, Variety has learned.

John Malkovich, Ben Schwartz, Tawny Newsome, and Diana Silvers will all appear in series regular roles, while Jimmy O. Yang, Don Lake, and Alex Sparrow have landed recurring guest star roles. In today’s film news roundup, “Abominable” gets a Chinese-language version, “The Mandela Effect” gets a home, Buffalo 8 expands its post-production services and “Miracle on Grass” is becoming a movie.

Special Release

Universal Pictures has partnered with audio tech company TheaterEars to offer a Mandarin-language version of “Abominable” for Chinese-speaking moviegoers.

Abominable,” produced by DreamWorks Animation and Pearl Studio, centers on the relationship between a modern Chinese teenager and a Yeti. By using the TheaterEars app, users will be able to listen to a Mandarin audio track at any of the 4,000 U.S. theaters showing the animated adventure.

The partnership marks the first time that a nationally released Hollywood movie has offered a Chinese audio option. Additionally, Universal and TheaterEars will also offer Spanish audio for the film. The film’s U.S. voice cast includes Chloe Bennet, Tenzing Norgay Trainor, Albert Tsai, Eddie Izzard, Sarah Paulson, Tsai Chin and Michelle Wong.
