Having been allowed into the CDC building, the survivors meet Dr. Edwin Jenner who appears to be the only survivor in the facility. There is plenty of food and drink and the surroundings are comfortable. A drunken Shane tries to reconcile with Lori Grimes, but she will have nothing to do with it. Dr. Jenner shows them how the infection works to reanimate a dead corpse but admits that he hasn't been able to make any advance on defeating it. Despair sets in at the realization that there is no cure for the plague that has enveloped them. Jenner has his own plans for the future leaving the survivors only a few minutes to leave the facility. Not everyone chooses to leave however.
Did You Know?
The building used to represent the CDC is actually the Cobb Energy Performing Arts Centre. Like the actual CDC, it is located outside of Atlanta, GA, but it doesn't house any infectious diseases. They did film in the area as all of the buildings around the Cobb Energy Performing Arts Centre are where they need to be, and it appears they also used the lobby of the Centre for the CDC lobby scenes. When Jenner shows the survivors a video of a person becoming a zombie on an MRI, at the end, a gun is shown entering the frame, then a bullet is shot into the brain. A metal gun could not be used anywhere near an MRI, as it would be violently attracted to the skin on the machine and stick to it. See more
