After having been turned into a vampire without the permission of the local vampire prince, you and your sire are brought to trial before the Los Angeles Camarilla, an organization of vampires dedicated to enforcing the Masquerade, the code of laws keeping the existance of vampires secret from the mortal world. Although Prince Sebastian LaCroix executes your sire, an outburst from Anarch leader Nines Roderiguez convinces him to spare your life. After initially sending you on a successful mission to destroy a Sabbat warehouse in Santa Monica, LaCroix begins to see your worth and enlists your aid in finding the Ankaran sarcophagus, which may hold the remains of an ancient vampire and give power to the one who possesses it. Did You Know?

The first game released after Half-Life 2 (2004) to use Valve's Source 3-D graphics engine technology. One character encountered early in the game - a woman with psychic abilities - strongly resembles Half-Life 2's "Alyx Vance". See more »

Smiling Jack: Me I don't care what you do, but - just so you know - polite vampire society looks down on that kind of thing.
Toreador: Pfft. They can be polite and pass me the salt for my rat!

Alternate Versions

In the European version, the Sheriff in the opening execution cut-scene keeps his sword suspended above the head of the player's sire rather than bringing it down to behead him/her. This is because the camera usually doesn't cut away quick enough before the sword beheads the sire, and it was thought that an actual decapitation scene would not pass the German ratings board. This game is GREAT
11 February 2018 | by cruzwindt-46534See all my reviews

The only reason I gave it a 9 instead of a 10, it's because of the bugs and how the ending part is obviously unfinished work, this is one of the best, if not the best RPG that I've played as a video game. Unfortunately didn't have enough time to be developed and it wasn't popular enough to save the company that made it so they went out without even making patches. If RPGs took this game as a model we could have much more quality games on the market.
