Bruce Lee the actor--but not the person.
30 May 2011 | by MartinHaferSee all my reviews

This biographical film about Bruce Lee didn't seem to offer any more insights than I've seen in other documentaries--and perhaps a few less. Instead of focusing on Bruce Lee as a person, its focus is almost completely on him as an actor. Other than being 'nice', you really don't learn much about him as a person--and that is exactly what I was hoping to find in "The Life of Bruce Lee". After all, I've seen his films and know he was a great martial artist--but most everyone already knows that. And because of this, the film is best for those barely acquainted with him. It consists of interviews with actors (only a few--including Jim Kelly, Jackie Chan and James Coburn), stunt men and martial artists. The piece was made using what appears to be videotape and is not one of the more professionally made documentaries I've seen. Still, it's competently made if not at all inspired.
