There are two alternate endings. The theatrical/DVD version ends after Shiva's father salutes him and freeze frames with Shiva smiling, with the song 'Hum Na Samjhe The' playing in the background. The UK TV version which was broadcast on ITV in 1994 follows on from the theatrical version and ends with Shiva's father giving a profile report of Shiva to the police commissioner. He explains that Shiva can no longer be an Inspector because he is a criminal. The end shot has Shiva's father staring at the photo of his son being stuck on to a criminal wall, with the song 'Hum Na Samjhe The' in the background. See more »

One of the GREAT movies
I strongly feel, this is one of the GREAT movies of Indian Cinema (better say World Cinema). It has the heart-prints-story of emotions between the father and son. Full marks goes to its Director - Priyadarshan who has beautifully characterize and picturize this movie. Normally I like to write shortcomings of the movies rather than appreciation. But here I am confused. Excellent acting by Jackie, Amrish, Dimple, superb cinematography, very well written story. A VERY NATURAL MOVIE.
