Jeff Collins To Head New Sky Studios-Backed U.S.-Based Unscripted Production Company Catalina Content

Exclusive: Days afterJeff Collins left Dance Moms producer Collins Avenue, which he had founded and run for more than 10 years, the reality veteran has set up his new venture.

Collins has been named president of Catalina Content, a new Los Angeles-based production label backed by Sky Studios in the UK. Running all creative for the new company, Collins has been tasked with creating character-driven and female-skewing programming, as well as entertainment formats for broadcast, cable, and streaming platforms.

Catalina Content joins Sky Studios non-scripted portfolio, which includes Jupiter Entertainment, creator of such crime series as Snapped, ID Murder Mystery, In Pursuit with John Walsh and Joe Kenda, Homicide Hunter, Love Productions, best known for The Great American Baking Show, Znak & Co (Fox’s upcoming Ultimate Tag) and Talos Films.

The character had an incredible sendoff in Avengers: Endgame, Downey Jr.’s contract had expired and he’s repeatedly and firmly claimed that he’s done everything he could with the role (though he’s not ruling anything out). WWE star Mike “The Miz” Mizanin will cohost USA Network’s water obstacle competition Cannonball, the network announced today. Joining him in hosting duties will be Rocsi Diaz.

Stand-up comic Simon Gibson will be a sideline reporter.

The 10-episode Cannonball premieres on USA this summer, with contestants competing in challenges like sliding off a 100-foot waterslide and rocketing off one of the world’s fastest drop towers. Winner of the water obstacles gets a $10K cash prize.

Mizanin also stars in USA’s reality show Miz and Mrs. He got his start on MTV’s The Real World: Back to New York before making his WWE debut in 2006, going on to star in WWE Studios films including The Marine franchise and Santa’s Little Helper.

Entertainment Tonight Enters the Guinness Book of World Records With 10,000th Episode
After nearly 40 years of reporting the news, on Friday, “Entertainment Tonight” is making it.

The four-time Emmy Award-winning show has claimed the Guinness World Record for the longest-running entertainment news TV show. The award is based on the amount of time a series has been on the air. To date, “Et” has officially broadcast for 38 years and 118 days, debuting on Sept. 14, 1981.

“That’s crazy,” “Entertainment Tonight” host Kevin Frazier said of being honored in the Guinness Book of World Records.

“As a kid who grew up reading that book — before the internet and all that — you laughed at the crazy records and marveled at the big ones,” he continued. “So it’s mind-blowing and the greatest of honors.”

For comparison’s sake, “Jeopardy” (on the air since 1984) reached its 8,000 episodes milestone in October 2019, while the Guinness Book record-holder for the longest-running TV show is “Meet the Press,” which debuted in 1948.

Collins, who established Collins Avenue Entertainment in 2008, is exiting the Kew Media-backed business and Deadline understands he is finalizing his next move.

Founder and President Collins has served as Executive Producer on all Collins Avenue productions including Lifetime series Dance Moms and its spinoff series and specials, The CW’s Fly Girls and Animal Planet’s American Stuffers.

Collins started his production career on Entertainment Tonight and moved up to Vice President of Paramount Domestic Television’s Leeza Gibbons Entertainment.
