Storyline

When the local hotel is found to be on fire, the firemen (all of them Julius the cat lookalikes), led by Fire Chief Alice, are called in. The residents are busy escaping the blaze while the cats get to work helping them out of the building and putting out the flames. When a feline tenant gets caught on the top floor, one of the firemen bravely saves her by riding a smoke cloud up to reach her, but when they get back to the ground, he finds her expiring from smoke inhalation. He saves the day by rolling the smoke out of her with a rolling pin, and when she revives the two fall instantly in love. Written by jjwbenso

A pretty typical Alice film
28 April 2012 | by MartinHaferSee all my reviews

Back in the early to mid-1920s, Walt Disney made a string of film starring a live girl, Alice (Virginia Davis), and her adventures in a cartoon world. While "Alice the Fire Fighter" is not among the best of these films, it's a good example of what this series of films were like. This one finds Alice and her cat working as fire fighters--and a whole bunch of other lookalike cats as well. A cartoon building is on fire and Alice really doesn't do all that much in this one--mostly it's up to the cat. And, as a reward for saving the life of a girl kitty, he gets a big kiss. All in all, not a brilliant film but one that is clearly better than the average cartoon of the day and worth a look today--especially so you can see Disney's roots.
