Disney Celebrates Chinese New Year with Black Widow, Eternals and 10 More Posters
Eternals, Black Widow, and The New Mutants are just a few of the posters Disney has served up in honor of Chinese New Year. Chinese New Year officially started on January 25th, 2020, and ends on February 4th, though preparations started on the 17th. The Lantern Festival will take place on February 8th. To celebrate the Year of the Rat, which is as close to Mickey Mouse as we can get, Disney has unveiled a ton of new posters to help promote their upcoming release slate.

The Eternals Chinese New Year poster gives us our first hint at the colorful costumes some of our heroes will be wearing in the movie. While it's not confirmed as to who the four characters are featured on the poster, it is believed that Thena (Jolie), Ikaris, Ajak (Salma Hayek), and Phastos (Brian Tyree Henry) are the chosen ones in the latest artwork promoting the movie.

How Greta Gerwig Found Inspiration Revisiting Alcott’s ‘Little Women’ Novel as an Adult

How Greta Gerwig Found Inspiration Revisiting Alcott’s ‘Little Women’ Novel as an Adult
Greta Gerwig says she had a completely different interpretation of Louisa May Alcott’s “Little Women” after revisiting the book as an adult.

“I hadn’t read it since I was, like, 15. And then I read it when I was 30, and even though I knew almost every single line, it was like I had never read it before,” Gerwig said at TheWrap Screening Series for the Oscar-nominated film on Friday. “It was like completely modern and pressing and strange and relevant, and it was about exactly what my central interests are: authorship, ownership, women, money and how that all intersects.”

The coming-of-age film follows Jo March as a writer in New York in 1868 as she looks back at her childhood with her three sisters: Meg, Amy and Beth. As it jumps between 1861 and 1868, Jo realizes how everyone has grown and experienced their own version of womanhood.

Get ready, True Believers, because Black Widow is officially hitting cinemas in exactly 100 days! And to celebrate, the studio has dropped this short new promo, promising that Scarlett Johansson’s Natasha Romanoff is on her way.

The teaser features a small bunch of clips, all of which have been plucked from previous trailers. Which film should double Oscar nominee Scarlett Johansson win for?

Which film should double Oscar nominee Scarlett Johansson win for?
Scarlett Johansson shed her “never Oscar-nominated” tag in tremendous fashion, becoming the 12th actor to garner double bids after landing in Best Actress for “Marriage Story” and Best Supporting Actress in “Jojo Rabbit.” And if you had your druthers, which performance would you award her for?

Ok, let’s get this out of the way first: No, she is not favored to win either category. Renee Zellweger (“Judy”) and Johansson’s “Marriage Story” lawyer Laura Dern have been steamrolling through the season in the lead and supporting races, respectively, and it doesn’t feel like there will be an upset in the offing in such a short season. Johansson is currently in second place in our odds in both categories.

But ScarJo stans can still dream. None of the previous 11 double nominees have won both categories, so that’s the least likely scenario. Seven of them took home one, the

4 reasons why Laura Dern has the Oscar in the bag for Netflix’s ‘Marriage Story’
And the Oscar goes to … Laura Dern! You can already hear those words, right? It’s not just me? According to the Golden Globes, Critics’ Choice and SAG Awards, Dern is the Best Supporting Actress of the year for her role as divorce attorney Nora Fanshaw in Netflix’s “Marriage Story.” She’s also the odds-on favorite to win at the upcoming BAFTA Awards. Usually when someone takes home all four of these televised precursors, they have the Oscar in the bag — just ask recent category winners like Allison Janney for “I, Tonya” (2017) and Viola Davis for “Fences” (2016). Below, see four reasons why I predict Dern will follow this same awards trajectory.

Thunderbolts TV Show Might Bring Back A Forgotten McU Villain

It’s not quite official yet, but all the signs are pointing to the Thunderbolts coming to the McU. There’s been a ton of evidence to suggest that the team of supervillains press-ganged into doing good by General Thaddeus “Thunderbolt” Ross will be set-up in both Black Widow and The Falcon and the Winter Soldier and it’s then believed the gang will star in their own Disney Plus series.

This lines up with We Got This Covered’s own intel as well, with our sources – who told us that Taskmaster would be the villain in Black Widow back in March – also giving us one extra name that isn’t being reported yet as linked to the project but who will almost certainly show up. So far, several characters are being brought up in regards to news of the Thunderbolts, including Daniel Bruhl’s Zemo, Ghost (Hannah John-Kamen), U.

Oscar nominations continue to make a difference at the box office, and the box office continues to be important to Oscar contenders.

Aarp Movies for Grownups Honors Martin Scorsese, Renée Zellweger and More

  • The Wrap
It didn’t take long for the post-Golden Globes dust to settle, as the weekend that followed (Jan. 11 and 12) brought more chances for Hollywood’s Oscar hopefuls to scoop up a few more trophies.

Surprisingly, there were a lot of nerves on display, too, even at the Aarp The Magazine’s 19th Annual Movies for Grownups Awards, where most of the honorees were pretty sure they were winners. That gala designed for the over-50 crowd airs tonight on “Great Performances” at 6/5c on PBS, after actually happening on Jan. 11.

Annette Bening was honored with a career achievement prize, as her husband Warren Beatty cheered her on, and Tony Danza acted as a lively and funny host for the evening.

Are you impatiently waiting for Black Widow to arrive so that you can find out what happens in Scarlett Johansson’s first solo outing in the McU? Then you might want to check out the glut of leaked plot details that just dropped over on 4Chan. Sure, this is 4Chan we’re talking about and it may eventually be proven wrong, but much of the intel being shared does have a ring of truth to it. Given that, proceed with caution if you’re spoiler-phobic, as we’re about to dive into what’s apparently the film’s big twist.

As previously reported, the leak claims that Taskmaster will be unveiled as O-t Fagbenle’s character Mason, Natasha Romanoff’s ex. But this isn’t even the biggest revelation of the movie, as Melina Vostokoff (Rachel Weisz) will later be revealed as a traitor. In an intriguing development, it’s

Netflix Praised by ‘The Irishman,’ ‘Marriage Story’ Filmmakers at Producers Guild Panel
Streaming giant Netflix received strong support from filmmakers behind “The Irishman” and “Marriage Story” at the Producers Guild of America’s nominees panel on Saturday at the Skirball Cultural Center in Los Angeles.

Jane Rosenthal, one of “The Irishman” producers, said Netflix embraced the vision that she and Martin Scorsese had for the $170 million film. The time-jumping epic received a limited theatrical release prior to its Nov. 29 streaming release.

“Netflix has been extraordinary,” Rosenthal said. “Our business is changing. We still want to see movies in theaters. I think more people will wind up seeing a DeNiro-Scorsese movie than their other movies combined. As a filmmaker and producer, our goal is to get people to see our movies. It really has been an extraordinary experience.”

Noah Baumbach, director-producer of “Marriage Story,” was effusive in his praise of Netflix for re-opening New York City’s Paris Theater — one of the oldest

Black Widow Lego Set Reveals New Taskmaster Helicopter Scene

It’s been a good week for Black Widow material, between the film’s latest trailer and the various merch photos that have made their way online. Coming hot on the heels of the recent Funko Pop! reveal, for instance, are some new pics showing off the movie’s first tie-in Lego set, which potentially teases a set piece revolving around a black helicopter.

The cover art shows the villainous Taskmaster stood on the edge of the chopper, while Natasha Romanoff fights alongside McU newcomer and fellow Black Widow, Yelena Belova, played in the film by Florence Pugh.

At the moment, there’s a fair amount of speculation surrounding Pugh’s character, with fans wondering if she’ll be a franchise regular or a one-time player with a potentially tragic fate. But the figure who’s really been getting the theorists all fired up is Taskmaster, partly because we still

Black Widow Funko Pop! Toys Tease Possible McU Spoiler
There may be a pretty large spoiler connecting Black Widow to Avengers: Endgame in some new Funko Pop! figures. The popular toy company revealed a set of figures for Natasha Romanoff's upcoming standalone adventure, which takes place after the events of Civil War. As Marvel Cinematic Universe fans know, Romanoff did not make it out of Endgame alive after she sacrificed her life on Vormir. Hawkeye was left alone, but he gained the Soul Stone, which was ultimately the key to making their time heist work in the first place. Will the time heist come into play in Black Widow?

‘Little Women’: How Composer Alexandre Desplat Channeled Mozart and Bowie for Saoirse Ronan’s Jo

‘Little Women’: How Composer Alexandre Desplat Channeled Mozart and Bowie for Saoirse Ronan’s Jo
After reading Greta Gerwig’s radical, non-linear adaptation of Louisa May Alcott’s “Little Women,” composer Alexandre Desplat asked the director what she musically had in mind: “Mozart meets David Bowie,” was her unexpected reply. He was taken aback, but had no intention of creating some sort of retro/modern fusion. Yet after digging deeper, he began contemplating the youthful energy of Mozart and the restless energy of Bowie.

“I thought of it as ambivalence,” said Desplat, the two-time Oscar winner. “The music should always have gravitas and be joyful and have a lot of rhythm, like Mozart had, and like David Bowie had. Some melody line that you can follow.”

But the best musical strategy was capturing the creative thought process of Saoirse Ronan’s Jo as she’s writing her autobiographical novel about her family. That was inherent in Gerwig’s storytelling in the way she championed Jo as a literary,
