A fun crude romantic comedy
30 May 2015 | by (San Antonio) – See all my reviews

Someone Marry Barry can be described as one of those cheap comedies that come out every year with some recognizable comedic actors and some low brow humor. This movie fits that description, but I had fun with it. It does nothing new and it goes for the cheap laugh, but the cast was game and it offered enough laughs to justify its existence for me.

Good: I like the whole cast as they interacted with each other. Tyler Labine is the requisite loud fat guy, but he is funny doing so. I am a big fan of Damon Wayans Jr. and he is funny here as well although his role is reminiscent of his role on Happy Endings. Even Lucy Punch who sometimes goes too over the top was thankfully suitably crude without being obnoxious. The jokes are crude, but they deliver with some laughs surprisingly.

Bad: Not all the jokes work and the obnoxiousness can get a bit much at times. The movie also follows the predictable rom com formula.

Overall, it isn't perfect, but for a cheap laugh, it worked for me and I am happy. At least it didn't annoy me to death like most of these movies tend to do.
