Calvin Harris will not be allowed to visit the X Factor studios ever again following his antics on Saturday night's show, a report has claimed. 16 November 2009 5:34 AM, PST | digitalspy | See recent digitalspy news »

Calvin Harris has said that he wants John & Edward to win The X Factor, but branded the show "a joke". The singer told Radio 1 that he hoped to inspire disdain for the contest when he went on stage during the twins' rendition of 'Under Pressure'/'Ice Ice Baby'. Harris said of John & Edward: "I want them to win, I love them. Where can they go from there? Where can X Factor go from there? It's not a music competition. "If you look at music, it's a frightening stranglehold that Simon Cowell has (more) »

According to The Sun, the 'Dance Wiv Me' star claimed that he interrupted the performance to make a point about the reality talent show. Harris said: "It's not for my own publicity. I'm not a celebrity - I make music. Dancing on stage with a pineapple on your head is a very stupid thing to do, but I also want to suggest that it's a very stupid (more) »

The X Factor: weekend liveblog

15 November 2009 12:59 PM, PST | The Guardian - TV News | See recent The Guardian - TV News news »

We've only just recovered from rock week. And now this! Queen week is upon us. Don't think too hard about what Jedward might be doing ...

Preamble

Last week's X Factor action

It's been a pretty quiet week in X Factor terms. John and Edward's survival at the expense of Lucie last week only unleashed acres of newsprint and vats of outrage in response. Along with several thousand complaints, of course.

So the twins will be under so pressure to perform this week, if you can call their brand of shouty talking while prancing performing. How will they get on with Queen week? And will last week's brouhaha see the public voting for them in droves, or abandoning them entirely?

Such tension! Anna Pickard will be here from 8pm on Saturday, and again after the Sunday night results show to give her take on proceedings. Join her then.

7.43: Evening all! »

X Factor contestants John & Edward have reportedly been forced to change the song they are performing on tonight's show at the last minute. The teenagers were due to attempt Queen's hit 'Radio Ga Ga', but have been advised to try the band's 1981 collaboration with David Bowie 'Under Pressure' instead, according to The Mirror. A show insider told the newspaper: "The twins were struggling a bit with 'Radio Ga Ga' so a decision was made to change their song. "But they're freaking out now as they're having problems remembering the words for 'Under Pressure' and they're worried they'll (more) »

Monday’s Dancing: What You Didn’t See

Dream Come True: As Britain's Got Talent sensation Susan Boyle, whose first CD will be released Nov. 23, slowly made her entrance onto the Dancing with the Stars stage late Monday afternoon to pre-tape a performance, which will air on Tuesday's results show, the crowd burst into applause. Boyle looked elegant in a black sequined gown, her hair coiffed to perfection. Despite battling a case of pre-show nerves, Boyle was completely in her element once the orchestra began playing the opening notes of her signature song, "I Dreamed a Dream" from the musical Les Miserables. Dancers Tony Dovolani and Chelsie Hightower performed an elegant routine to Boyle's spot-on vocals. But because of a wardrobe malfunction -- Dovolani's bowtie came unfastened from his tuxedo shirt -- they had to do a second take. Unbelievably, it was even better than the first. Under Pressure: Mya and Aaron Carter have performed to huge audiences in their lives, »

Under pressure over its pay practices, British Broadcasting Corp. plans to cut the salaries of top managers and axe more than 100 senior posts as part of a broader overhaul to cut costs.

The BBC, which is funded by a license fee paid by the public, plans to cut the amount it spends on the salaries of its top bosses by about 25 percent, according to the BBC Trust. The BBC Trust oversees the use of the license fee and had asked management to cut salaries as part of a review into ways to save money. Film critics to moviegoers: “We’ll start seeing things your way”

29 October 2009 2:24 PM, PDT | ReelLoop.com | See recent Reel Loop news »

Under pressure from “average moviegoers,” film critics will now reflect the tastes of the box office in their reviews.

“For far too long we’ve provided commentary on film using our perspective and knowledge of cinema,” says Nathanial Monroe, the film critic for The Friendly Forecaster in Beachwave, Michigan. “Those days have come to an end. I’ll now base my opinion on how profitable a movie is. You should have seen the amount of email I received from my review of Law Abiding Citizen. One gentleman called me a ‘high-brow’ snob who ‘must like baseball and other gay things like Friends and kissing guys.’ It really made me think.”

Monroe wasn’t the only critic rattled by the pressure from readers. After the release of Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen, a battle ensued between the vast majority of critics and regular moviegoers. The film from director Michael Bay was »

Project Runway: The Jetset & The Easy-to-Forget

23 October 2009 1:15 AM, PDT | People.com - TV Watch | See recent People.com - TV Watch news »

Thursday's Project Runway let the seven remaining designers indulge in a jetsetting fantasy ... but without the actual travel part. Instead, the contestants were given photographs of fabulous places that Michael Kors has visited -- perhaps that's why he's been Mia from the runway so much this season! -- that have inspired his collections over the years. The challenge? Get inspired by a specific place -- then sew. Under Pressure: This week everybody was rattled! Christopher, who's become a permanent fixture in the bottom three, wanted to prove he had sophisticated taste. Irina felt challenged to constantly one-up her winning designs -- and, we hope, out-sass herself. And Gordana, who picked New York as her inspiration, scrambled to actually make a dress after spending so much time on a gorgeous, crystal-encrusted necklace perfect for a Park Avenue princess. Cutting Up: At first glance, Christopher's matronly frock, inspired by Santa Fe, »

Viff 2009: 'Police, Adjective'

14 October 2009 11:47 AM, PDT | CinemaSpy | See recent CinemaSpy news »

An adjective is a word or phrase used to modify a noun. It adds attribution or description to the "it" in a sentence.

In the Romanian dictionary, the word "police" can be used as an adjective to refer to a novel or story about the solving of a crime.

In writer-director Corneliu Porumboiu's Police, Adjective, the crime is possession and distribution of hashish.

Sort of.

Cristi is an undercover cop investigating three high school kids who meet up in the afternoons to smoke a joint. Cristi's honeymooned in Prague; he knows that hash and marijuana have been effectively decriminalized there.

But not in Romania.

Under pressure to mount a sting operation, to arrest the kids and get them into interrogation, Cristi avoids his captain in order to tail them and collect evidence that will lead him to their supplier.

Cristi's made for surveillance. He's patient, to a fault, content »
