Video Game Review – Vostok Inc. on Nintendo Switch

Shaun Munro reviews Vostok Inc. on Nintendo Switch…

If you’re not familiar with the “clicker” genre of video games – as I wasn’t prior to playing Nosebleed Interactive’s Vostok Inc. – it encompasses games reliant on grinding resources and performing repetitive actions in order to progress, requiring an abundance of – wait for it – clicking on the player’s part.

To a neohpyte in the genre such as myself, Vostok Inc. is something of a novelty, a weirdly, compulsively addictive mash-up of twin-stick shooter and farming sim. While it’s easy to imagine how those well-versed in clicker games may find this one decidedly less-alluring, and there are certainly times where it tested my own patience, its charming personality and neat hybridisation of genres nevertheless helps keep it on the right side of addictive.

Appointed as the new CEO of space-colony superpower Vostok Inc, the player is tasked with exploring more than 40 planets over 6 systems, »

Interview – Steven Moffat talks Doctor Who “Twice Upon a Time”

Following on from the Pearl Mackie interview earlier our final interview to celebrate the Doctor Who Christmas Special “Twice Upon a Time” being just a week away is with Steven Moffat, writer and outgoing showrunner.  Also at the end this interview there are a few words from Peter Capaldi himself, who makes his final appearance as The Doctor.

Both Steven Moffat and Peter Capaldi are long term Doctor Who fans, both actively involved in the series beyond the screen itself.  Moffat was contributing for Virgin Books back in the 1990’s whilst Peter was bothering the BBC with fan letters as a teenager.  Getting to this position wasn’t just a ‘job’ for either of them.

Interview with Steven Moffat

What does Twice Upon A Time have in store for us?

There are some new eerie creatures of glass haunting the Doctor and his friends throughout this story – but what their »

Avengers: Infinity War will show “why Thanos is the biggest and baddest villain in the history of the Marvel Cinematic Universe”

Having made his first appearance in the post-credits scene of The Avengers back in 2012, we’re now just a few short months away from seeing Thanos unleashing his wrath on Earth’s Mightiest Heroes, and speaking at Brazil’s Ccxp, Marvel Studios chief Kevin Feige has promised that the first five minutes of Avengers: Infinity War will establish the Mad Titan as “the biggest and baddest villain” of the McU to date.

“You know, we’ve been teasing Thanos since the very first Avengers film,” said Feige. “Remember the end of Avengers, the very end of the movie he turns around in the chair and you realize something bad is coming. We’ve been teasing him for years and the trick is when you tease something for that long you have to deliver. So, within the first five minutes of Infinity War people will understand why Thanos is the biggest »

Wrestling Daily News Roundup – New Champion Crowned at Clash of Champions, Xfl Return Update, Rumoured Names for Hall of Fame 2018

Liam Hoofe with a round-up of the latest wrestling news…

New Champion Crowned at Clash of Champions

People were scratching their heads a few weeks back when Dolph Ziggler was added into the Us title at Clash of Champions; the move made little sense from a storyline perspective and it seemed as if it was just a way of delaying a one on one bout between Roode and Corbin.

Well, the company pulled the rug from underneath all of us last night when Dolph Ziggler walked away from Clash of Champions with the Us title belt in his possession. The decision is an odd one but most fans are happy to see Ziggler getting another run with the belt. Is this possibly a move to keep him in the company amid rumours of a departure in 2018? It seems likely he will be a transitional champion but either way, it was »

WWE Clash of Champions Review

Liam Hoofe reviews WWE Clash of Champions…

WWE finished their calendar year off last night with Smackdown’s Clash of Champions. The company has had a reasonable year from a PPV standpoint but the Blue Brand has struggled for the latter half of the year, mostly because of Jinder Mahal’s title reign. Did they manage to close out the year in style with Clash of Champions? Let’s take a look back at each match and see.

Dolph Ziggler Defeated Bobby Roode and Baron Corbin To Win the United States Championship

What an opening bout this was! While hype for Clash of Champions has not exactly been through the roof, if this is the type of match-up we can expect throughout the night then things should be okay. Ziggler picking up the victory was a massive surprise and the finishing moments were very well executed. Roode and Corbin still »

Interview – Pearl Mackie talks about Doctor Who “Twice Upon a Time”

Following on from the Mark Gatiss interview earlier today, our next interview to celebrate the Doctor Who Christmas Special “Twice Upon a Time” being just a week away is with Pearl Mackie who played the Doctor’s Companion Bill Potts in the last series (and coming up next is a few words from both Steven Moffat and Peter Capaldi who shall both be leaving the Tardis behind after this extra special episode).

Bill Potts (Pearl Mackie) was a coiled spring of pure energy and emotion in the Doctor Who series just gone.  Met with applause for both critics and fans, Pearl Mackie left a lasting footprint on the floor of the Tardis with Bill, and when she finally departed the Blue Police Box people truly didn’t want her to go.

What have we got to look forward to in this episode?

There’s so much! We’ve got not one but two TARDISes, »

Rian Johnson says there was no set plan for the Star Wars Sequel Trilogy, defends Last Jedi humour

While Star Wars: The Last Jedi received an overwhelmingly positive reaction from critics, fans have been a little more mixed on the second chapter of Disney’s Star Wars Sequel Trilogy. One of the big complaints aimed towards the film is that it deviates from the seeds planted in Star Wars: The Force Awakens in favour of going off in its own direction, and director Rian Johnson has revealed to Deadline that Lucasfilm had no overarching story in place for the trilogy, and he was afforded full creative freedom to take Episode VIII where he wanted.

“That’s what’s been really cool about the storytelling process. There is definitely the idea that we know it is a three-movie arc. We know the first film is an introduction, then the middle act is training, meaning challenging the characters. The third is where they all come together and you have to resolve everything. »

Why Is Path of Exile Still The Best RPG of 2017?

It’s been a good four years since Path of Exile was released by Grinding Gear Games. Yet the game still has a tremendous following, not only among PC gamers, but also among console gamers who have picked up copies of the Xbox One version. You’ve got to wonder why a title that has been around since the fall of 2013 is still among the present-day favorites, much like Blizzard’s Diablo games were played by many for several years after their release.

Take note that what we will be discussing below is largely based on opinion — your mileage may vary, and you may have your own favorites in the Arpg genre that you feel are better than PoE. But we’re almost sure you can agree that Path of Exile is one of the best RPGs of 2017, if not necessarily the best of them all for every gamer out there. »
