Thor: Ragnarok screenwriter has heard “whispers” of more Marvel One-Shots

Here’s some potentially exciting news for fans of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, with Thor: Ragnarok screenwriter Eric Pearson revealing to CinemaBlend that he’s heard “whispers” that Marvel may be looking to revive its One-Shot series of short films.

“I think probably the drop in Blu-ray sales has hurt the One-Shots program — though I’ve heard whispers of it starting up again,” said Pearson, who penned the first three One-Shots – The Consultant, A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to Thor’s Hammer and Item 47. “I can’t confirm that at all, but I’ve definitely heard whispers of it. And I have a whole folder full of other One-Shots that I just came up with. And I was like, ‘Oh, this will be a fun eight to 12 pages!'”

The Marvel One-Shots started out as brief shorts attached to the home entertainment releases of the McU movies, but »

New trailer for Liam Neeson’s The Commuter

“You have until next stop to decide. What kind of person are you?”

That’s the thinly veiled threat made to Liam Neeson’s travelling salesman by Vera Farmiga’s butter-wouldn’t-melt blackmailer in the latest trailer for The Commuter. Jaume Collet-Serra’s action film is shaping up to be the best high-speed transport game of cat-and-mouse since Speed, and whilst the last director/star collaboration may have been more non-starter than Non-Stop, Serra is coming off the back of the terrific Blake Lively and seagull movie, The Shallows, so hopes are high for some high-octane fun.

“In this action-packed thriller, Liam Neeson plays an insurance salesman, Michael, on his daily commute home, which quickly becomes anything but routine. After being contacted by a mysterious stranger, Michael is forced to uncover the identity of a hidden passenger on his train before the last stop. As he works against the clock to solve the puzzle, »

Back in November of last year, Kevin Smith expressed his interest in seeing an animated adaptation of the infamous Superman Lives, an aborted live-action reboot of the Man of Steel from the mid-90s, which would have saw Tim Burton directing Nicolas Cage as Superman.

Well, as it happens, Warner Bros. has considered that very idea, with Cbr reporting that writer and producer Michael Jelenic (Teen Titans Go!, Batman vs. Two-Face) revealed he took the idea to the studio:

“I had a big pitch, and they took it seriously for a second, to do Tim Burton’s Superman…to do that animated,” said Jelenic, before responding to a reporter’s comment that Nic Cage would do it by stating “He would absolutely do it!”.

It’s not beyond the realm of possibility that Cage would be up for voicing the character, given that he’s a huge Superman fan, and »

Movie Review – Live-Evil (2015)

Live-Evil, 2015.

Directed by Ari Kirshenbaum.

Starring Vladimir Kulich, Charlene Amoia, Vincent M. Ward, Tony ToddJ. Richey Nash, and Karen Wheeling Reynolds

Synopsis:

Supernatural forces are locked into a college town police force’s basement jail. The sheriff and his deputies are subjected to psychic attacks, preying on the fears of the loyal officers and only those with the strongest wills can survive.

It’s that time again campers. The time of year when production companies with any horror films on their slate, push out a release. As it is, Live-Evil has actually been hovering around for a couple of years now but finally has a UK release.

I enjoy a quirky horror film. A film which attempts to do something different. Subvert the genre perhaps or have a little fun. Earlier this year I saw Dolph Lundgren’s enjoyable horror comedy, Don’t Kill It. It felt like a »

Rumoured character breakdown offers details on Justice League villain Steppenwolf

A few weeks ago a rumour emerged suggesting that the DC Extended Universe incarnation of Steppenwolf would be receiving a bit of a revamp from the comic books for his role in Justice League, with the character said to have been changed to the nephew of Darkseid, as opposed to his uncle. Well, if a rumoured character description from Hollywood Magazine is accurate, it seems that won’t be the case after all:

The uncle of the universe’s greatest villain, Darkseid, and a member of his elite force, Steppenwolf survived a battle with Doomsday. That should tell you just how powerful he is. Aside from his strength and near-immortality, he’s also an expert tactician and wields a vicious electro-axe that can cut through just about anything.

Steppenwolf’s primary role is as the leader of the parademons, the storm troopers who seek to destroy in the name of Darkseid. »

Chris Hemsworth reveals that he almost turned down the role of Thor

It’s honestly hard to believe anyone other than Chris Hemsworth playing The God of Thunder. For the better part of a decade, the actor has hefted the hammer, and really made the role his own; Thor: Ragnarok being the payoff for all of that hard work, if all of the reviews are to be believed. However, what if we had a different actor playing Thor. Can you picture it? Chris Hemsworth recently revealed to The Sydney Morning Herald that he was very close to turning down the role that made his career:

“I was crossing the road in Vancouver … and I remember the exact moment getting a call from from my lawyer and my manager saying ‘You got the offer.’ And then kind of going ‘Oh wow, cool. So what is it?’ ‘It’s a superhero thing and it’s a six-picture deal.’ And we were like ‘that’s »
