The true story of Molly Bloom, a beautiful, young, Olympic-class skier who ran the world’s most exclusive high-stakes poker game for a decade before being arrested in the middle of the night by 17 FBI agents wielding automatic weapons. Her players included Hollywood royalty, sports stars, business titans and finally, unbeknown to her, the Russian mob. Her only ally was her criminal defense lawyer Charlie Jaffey, who learned there was much more to Molly than the tabloids led people to believe.

‘Marvel’s The Punisher’ Gets A Season 2 Netflix Renewal

13 December 2017 4:33 AM, PST

Marvel’s The Punisher

I can’t say that I’ve managed to see past the first episode of Marvel’s The Punisher on Netflix, but it must have been a hit with the fans as the streamer has renewed the show for a second season.

The first season debuted in full on Netflix on November 17th to fair to middling reviews, but I hear that the new incarnation of the Frank Castle story is far from a disaster. There’s no word yet as to when we can expect to see a second season, but with the likes of Jessica Jones season 2 due in March, Luke Cage season 2 just after that, and then Daredevil season 3 in late 2018 and Iron Fist season 2 on the way for early 2019, we won’t see it for at least 18 months.

As ever, we’ll keep you posted.

13 December 2017 4:21 AM, PST

After storming the box-office back in September with nearly $400 million in worldwide gross (from a reported $104 million budget), Kingsman: The Golden Circle looks like it will have a follow-up.

Speaking with Comic Book Movie at a Blu-ray event for Kingsman: The Golden Circle, Visual Effects Supervisor Angus Bickerton said, “We’ve had the briefest of conversations with Matthew [Vaughn] about it…he’s got plans,” indicating the filmmaker could be making a return to the franchise for a third installment.

The Kingsman franchise has already made a ton of money for backers 20th Century Fox, and while I wasn’t particularly enamored with the second installment, I feel that the series may still have a few places left to go.

Cbm also reminds us of comments that Vaughn previously made:  “I think there’s a story in my head which will be finished by the end of the next one,” Vaughn »
