If it’s up to Rebel Wilson, the Barden Bellas won’t be turning off their microphones anytime soon.

At the Pitch Perfect 3 premiere in Los Angeles on Wednesday, Wilson told People she sees more acapella-centric movies in the future — despite the upcoming film being dubbed the “Farewell Tour.”

“Oh definitely,” she responded when asked if she would make another film.

In fact, the actress said her love for her costars runs so deep, they would be willing to go rogue in order to make more Pitch Perfect films.

‘Titanic,’ ‘The Goonies,’ ‘Superman’ Added to National Film Registry
Titanic,” “Superman” and “The Goonies” are among 25 titles selected into the National Film Registry of the Library of Congress, it was announced Wednesday. These films were selected for their cultural, historic and/or aesthetic importance and range from “La Bamba” to “Die Hard,” spanning the period 1905 to 2000. The 2017 selections bring the number of films in the registry to 725. Other selections this year include Stanley Kramer’s 1967 “Guess Who’s Coming to Dinner,” Yvonne Rainer’s 1972 film “Lives of Performers,” Christopher Nolan’s “Memento,” “Spartacus” and “Ace in the Hole.”

SAG Award Nominations Scorecard: Fox Searchlight, Netflix Top List
The 2018 SAG Awards nominees were announced Wednesday, and Fox Searchlight and Netflix led the scoreboard for film and television distributors.

Fox Searchlight landed 7 film nominations, while Netflix scored 19 for television and two for film. Martin McDonagh’s “Three Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri” and Greta Gerwig’s “Lady Bird” carried film with four and three nods, respectively. In television, “Big Little Lies,” “Stranger Things,” and “Glow” each picked up four mentions.

Here’s the full list of SAG Award nominations. Kristen Bell will host the 24th annual awards ceremony on Jan. 21. The ceremony, recognizing top performances in television and film, will air live on both TNT and TBS at 8 p.m. ET.

Luca Guadagnino, currently drumming up Oscar buzz for the ravishing “Call Me by Your Name,” will direct Jennifer Lawrence in “Burial Rites,” Variety has learned. Lawrence will produce, as well as star in the true-crime drama. TriStar Pictures, a division of Sony Pictures, has worldwide rights to the picture.

The film draws on Hannah Kent’s 2013 novel of the same name, and centers on Agnes Magnusdottir (Lawrence), the last woman to be publicly executed in Iceland in 1830. Agnes was sentenced to death for killing two men and setting fire to their home. The story takes place as Agnes awaits confirmation of her death sentence by the high court, a period of time that finds her reluctantly forging emotional and romantic bonds, while reflecting on her supposed crimes.

Woody Harrelson may become entangled in Venom's web.

The actor is in talks for an undisclosed role in Venom, the Tom Hardy-led Spider-Man off-shoot from Sony. 

Hardy is starring as the popular Marvel Comics antihero with Riz Ahmed, Michelle Williams and Jenny Slate also on the roll call.

If a deal makes, it would mark a reunion for Harrelson with director Ruben Fleischer, who directed the actor in the hit 2009 zombie comedy Zombieland. Venom is already deep into production - filming began in October - and rumors of Harrelson's involvement and swirled on-and-off.

The piracy group Hive-CM8, which has made headlines in 2015 when it dumped dozens of Oscar-contending films on torrent sites from press screener DVDs before their release, claimed responsibility for the leak. “We decided to let this one title go out this month, since it never made it to the cinema, and nobody knows if it ever will go to retail at all,” the group wrote.

Regina Hall has joined the cast of New Line’s latest installment in the “Shaft” franchise opposite Samuel L. Jackson and Jessie T. Usher, sources tell Variety.

Hall will play a former love interest of John Shaft and the younger Shaft’s mother. Alexandra Shipp and the original Shaft, Richard Roundtree, are also on board.

Tim Story is directing from a script by Kenya Barris and Alex Barnow. Barris and John Davis are producing. Marc Fischer and Ira Napoliello are exec producing.

The movie follows Usher, a nerdy FBI agent who, after his friend dies under suspicious circumstances, launches his own investigation, reluctantly enlisting help from his estranged father — the legendary, stuck-in-the-’80s-but-still-cool John Shaft.

MGM’s 1971 blaxploitation film was based on Ernest Tidyman’s novel and directed by Gordon Parks. John Shaft was portrayed by Roundtree, who navigates mob neighborhoods in New York City to find a mobster’s missing daughter.

After Guillermo del Toro’s “The Shape of Water” landed a leading seven nominations at the Golden Globes, Fox Searchlight has ramped up development on two projects with the filmmaker.

Sources tell Variety that Searchlight is in negotiations with “Hostiles” director Scott Cooper to direct the supernatural pic “Antlers,” which del Toro is producing. Del Toro has been a fan of Cooper’s for some time now, and the two were eager to work together.

Del Toro is also setting up a new directing gig, attaching himself to write and direct a remake of the 1947 Fox movie “Nightmare Alley.” Sources indicate that this will likely not be his next directing job, as he still has to pen the script, which he plans to co-write with Kim Morgan.

Universal Crosses $5 Billion Mark at 2017 Worldwide Box Office
Universal Pictures has topped $5 billion at the global box office for the second time in the studio’s 105-year history, led by “The Fate of the Furious” and “Despicable Me 3.”

The global total for the studio passed the milestone on Dec. 11 to reach $5.003 billion, including $1.605 billion domestically and $3.398 billion internationally. Universal joined Disney and Warner Bros. in reaching the mark this year, with Disney hitting the milestone on Nov. 30 and Warner doing so five days later.

The Fate of the Furious” had the biggest global opening weekend of all time at $542 million — breaking the record set by 2015’s “Star Wars: The Force Awakens.” It was also the top international opening ever at $443.2 million.
