Leonardo DiCaprio in Talks for Tarantino’s Manson Murder Film

Leonardo DiCaprio may soon be reunited with director Quentin Tarantino. According to THR, the Oscar-winning actor who starred in Tarantino’s 2012 ‘Django Unchained‘ is in talks to sign on for a role in Tarantino’s next film based on the Manson family murders.

The upcoming film is said to be something along the lines of an ‘Inglorious Bastards’-style in the sense that it is loosely based on a tragic and world changing moment in history. In 1969, Charles Manson ordered his group of followers known as the Manson Family to invade the 10050 Cielo Drive home in Los Angeles and murder whomever was there and to make it look like it was the beginning of a race war. At the time the home belonged to director Roman Polanski and his pregnant wife Sharon Tate. The Manson family broke into the home and tortured and murdered Sharon Tate, her unborn child, and three of Tate’s friends,

Leonardo DiCaprio Locked In For Quentin Tarantino’s Charles Manson Movie

After months of rumors, Leonardo DiCaprio is now confirmed to be reuniting with Quentin Tarantino for his upcoming movie set around the Manson family murders. Precisely what this film is about remains a mystery, as Tarantino has confusingly said that it’s not actually about the Manson murders, despite Manson victim Sharon Tate reportedly playing a central role in the narrative (and the film releasing on August 9th, the date she was killed).

Furthermore, the director has famously said he’ll only ever helm ten movies in his career, and as this will be his ninth, the film is currently being referred to as #9 in promotional circles. Whatever the content of it is, it’s recently kicked off an almighty bidding war amongst studios – unsurprisingly.

All of Tarantino’s past work has been distributed by The Weinstein Company and, well…nobody wants that guy’s name stuck on the front of their movie these days,

However, the confirmation via Deadline of DiCaprio signing on brings new interesting details, including that Dicpario will be playing an “aging actor” getting by in the summer of 1969. This should be of interest to Tarantino and DiCaprio fans, many of whom speculated that Tarantino’s Django Unchained villain was circling the role of Charles Manson himself.
