We're learning more and more about Quentin Tarantino‘s highly anticipated Manson Family movie. The movie still doesn't have an official title but the Pulp Fiction director recently cast Leonardo DiCaprio in the lead role, and there are signs that point to Margot Robbie joining the production next. But now we're learning some possible info about DiCaprio’s character.

Since Tarantino walked away from long-time producers The Weinstein Company, Sony eventually landed the film. We then learned that DiCaprio will play “a male TV actor who’s had one hit series and his looking for a way to get into the film business.” Now, we have even more potential details about DiCaprio’s character.

It was announced last week that Leonardo DiCaprio is officially attached to Quentin Tarantino's Manson era Movie, which takes place in 1969. DiCaprio had been rumored to be in talks for months, and now that it's official. We finally know what part he'll be playing in the project. Months ago, an actor who reportedly read for a part in the movie revealed some of the plot details, which mentioned a washed-up TV star and his stuntman sidekick trying to make it into Hollywood movies.

The initial report was, for the most part, correct and it has now been revealed that Leonardo DiCaprio will be playing the aforementioned former TV star. Deadline reports that DiCaprio plays an aging actor who had his own Western TV show that aired from 1958 to 1963. Leonardo DiCaprio's character will be shown at the height of the hippy movement in 1969 trying to get a Western career going again.

Matt Smith in talks to play Charles Manson for American Psycho director

Former Doctor Who leading man Matt Smith is circling the role of notorious cult leader Charles Manson in The Family, directed by American Psycho helmer Mary Harron.

The Tracking Board reports that Smith is currently in talks for the Manson part in the film, which marks Harron’s reunion with American Psycho screenwriter Guinevere Turner.

The Family, based on a novel and a non-fiction book, will follow a grad student working with three young women who were brainwashed into being a part of Manson’s cult, who tell their story through flashbacks.

Game of Thrones star Hannah Murray, who recently appeared in Detroit, and Marianne Rendón (Imposters) are also in talks to play two of the women.

Smith will next be seen on the screen as photographer Robert Mapplethorpe in Ondi Timoner’s Mapplethorpe, in which Rendón will also appear as singer Patti Smith.

Following hot on the heels of the news that Leonardo DiCaprio has signed on to star in Quentin Tarantino’s new movie, we now have word that the filmmaker is eyeing another Oscar-winning star.

According to Variety, Tarantino is courting Al Pacino for an as-yet-unspecified role in the movie, which is going by the working title of #9. Should Pacino sign on, it would mark the screen legend’s first collaboration with the director.

For some reason, I never really imagined that Quentin Tarantino would ever work with Al Pacino but it looks like there's a chance that it might happen. According to Variety, the director is interested in casting the actor in his upcoming ninth film that is set in 1969.

Last week it was announced that Leonardo DiCaprio was officially cast in the film as an actor character in the story, and the director has also asked Margot Robbie to take on the role of Sharon Tate, but she has yet to accept the offer. Variety is reporting that Leonardo DiCaprio has been confirmed to be starring in Quentin Tarantino’s latest movie. The film, which is based on the Manson family murders and set in the late 1960s/ early 1970s, will go into production in the summer. It will be the actor’s first lead role since his Oscar-winning turn in The Revenant.

The trade says that Tarantino is also actively pursuing Al Pacino to appear in the film, while Tom Cruise is also reportedly still favoured for a role.

The plot for the as yet untilted motion picture was revealed towards the end of last year.
